| Recommended size of scratch disk. | 27 May 2008 17:10 GMT | 9 |
I like taking pictures and have thousands of them in my computer, but cannot devote as much time and serious attention to photography as I would like. So far, I have only dabbled on and off with Photoshop (v7), but could become more involved in the future.

| How to automatically lossless rotate pictures in WinXP (keyword is automatic) | 27 May 2008 15:35 GMT | 34 |
Is there a way in Windows to automatically orient portraits head-side up? I only snap portraits (anything else is a postcard, in my opinion) ... and I often orient the camera at 90, 180, or 270 degrees of normal - therefore I find myself tediously stepping through hundreds of photos ...

| HC SD card queries | 27 May 2008 08:00 GMT | 23 |
I have a 4 GB 'SDHC' SD card which I bought impulsively (cheap, high capacity) some months ago. I could not get it to work in the Belkin Card Reader on my old XP SP1 PC, which I assumed was because that PC didn't have USB 2.0. So I bought a little USB adapter and that allowed

I am aware of the issue with repeated editing and re-saving of jpeg image files, and the diminishing quality this can cause. I mostly work in jpeg all the time as my little humble p&s Fuji only makes jpegs anyway. I notice in the options settings of my editing software there is ...

| Opinions On Kodak Z712 | 27 May 2008 04:53 GMT | 3 |
I am considering buying a Kodak Z712 IS camera. It seems to be a good value and a step above a simple point-and-shoot. Almost as good as an SLR but much cheeper. Opinions?

| flatbed uv scanner | 27 May 2008 04:53 GMT | 22 |
It's fairly well known that some items fluoresces when exposed to UV light. Unfortunately, taking pictures of these items isn't so easy. As I understand it, filters that filter out all light save for UV light can be bought for select cameras, but the items I'm interested

| Digital photo of Michelangelo Creation of Adam? | 27 May 2008 04:52 GMT | 34 |
I need to make a print in a custom size (8x20) of Michelangelo Creation of Adam. Not the complete picture. Just the 2 hands touching fingers. I've googled until my fingers are worn but I haven't been able to find a source for a HIGH RESOLUTION digital version of this picture.

| Nikon D300: formatting problems | 26 May 2008 19:37 GMT | 2 |
Nikon D300. I used to be able to format memory cards by simultaneously pressing the mode and trashcan buttons. Now I cannot. I hold both for 2-3 seconds and the display flashes as though it is formatting. When done flashing,

| decoding raw images from Canon Powershot G2 | 26 May 2008 16:59 GMT | 5 |
I manage my Powershot G2 using Linux "ghoto2". Only recently have I got really interrested in the raw images. I have tried 'dcraw' under Linux, which works well, but lacks doc as far as "G2" is concerned. I have tested various arguments and parameters with 'dcraw' : white balance,
