Has anybody used the RCR-V3 lithium pack in place of two AA batteries?30 May 2008 14:20 GMT7
I've just learned that something called a RCR-V3 (rechargeable lithium pack)
can replace the two AA batteries in certain cameras. Has anybody tried this,
and if so, what camera and how did it perform as compared with NiMH
batteries?
Autofocusing with digital cameras30 May 2008 04:12 GMT1
Can anyone give information or a link that describes how low cost
digital cameras can autofocus an image?  Is this part of the ASIC in
the camera or is it a software algorithm that resides on the
microcontroller on the camera?
Tripod and Ball Head for Nikon D3 and 70-200 f/2.829 May 2008 19:33 GMT2
I'd like to get some advice for a Gitzo Carbon Fiber tripod and center ball
head for my Nikon D3 and lenses, the heaviest being my Nikon 70-200 f/2.8.
I'd like it sturdy, but as light as reasonably possible (that's why I've
decided on Carbon Fiber). I'm not interested in Basalt.

Hallo Kitty!29 May 2008 18:26 GMT4
As usually, you can see two tabby kittens, my sister has 5, so if you'd like
a genuine alley cat, exclusively trained by its mother to catch mice, let me
know! (Species:Felis Catus Domesticus), they can also purr, meow and have
excellent sight!
Strange behaviour - Sony p20029 May 2008 12:27 GMT2
Hi - I've got a Sony P200 - nice wee camera, about 2 years old.
Tonight I turned it on and the lens popped out the way it always does,
then went through an attempt to retract again, then stopped with the
lens still in the 'out' position.  Then there was a message on screen
Alternative to a Canon 450D29 May 2008 11:16 GMT3
I'm thinking of buying a buying a DSLR, I've seen Canons 450D as a good
introductory DSLR.
What would be a good alternative, ie Nikon, Pentax models.

Do you still sharpen?29 May 2008 08:12 GMT22
I know sharpening had a big place in photography due to low resolution
digital cameras.  The pictures were just too soft without a touch of
sharpening.  Even so the recommendation was to sharpen only just prior to
printing.
All in one Printer - Lexmark28 May 2008 20:48 GMT6
I am looking at purchasing an all in one printer. A buddy of mine
suggested a Lexmark.  Does anyone have experience with the Lexmark all

e all remember seeing those incredible ads for x-ray specs in the back

Canon EOS 5D and dust: anything new?28 May 2008 15:16 GMT3
i realize this may be a waste of time due to the incredible amount of
crap that appears to be on this newsgroup, but...
I have read that there is a serious dust problem with this camera (I
also read it's no different than any others, but the trend seems to be

How to create pure white background?28 May 2008 03:28 GMT5
Sometimes I want to shoot some objects with a pure white background. To do
this I use a large softbox as the background and adjust the intensity to
just overexpose.
An undesirable effect is a hazy look around the edges of the foreground
