Is this camera hopelessly broken???27 Apr 2008 18:08 GMT30
I have a Fuji Finepix 602 camera. I took maybe 10k photos with it.
It started malfunctioning in the following way: very often it shuts
down, as if the batteries were bad, except that it does it even with
newly charged batteries and even new non-rechargeable batteries.

Gamma adjustment27 Apr 2008 11:04 GMT20
Dear ng,
I've a question that should be quite easy to answer for someone who is
works with digital imaging a bit longer than I do:
How can I adjust the characteristic curve of a picture to have a slope
Threats to rpd27 Apr 2008 11:04 GMT34
While many consider the flood of spam the only threat to the group, I
think the flamers and foul-mouthed posts are just as much of a threat.
It got pretty bad a few years ago but then people cleaned up their act
and things cooled down.  Can't we just disagree with folks in a civil
Batteries VS charger27 Apr 2008 10:37 GMT11
My sanyo camera takes 2 AA batteries..there is no charger for it..only

Who thinks that the long term27 Apr 2008 06:49 GMT4
Who thinks that the long term trend will be
towards full frame DSLRs and away from the C size sensor.  If that is
the case then one should never consider buying a DX or EF-S lens since
they cannot work on a full frame.  And if you have both should you not
purchase
circular polorizer filter26 Apr 2008 01:14 GMT7
I just bought a Sigma 52 mm circular polarizer filter for my D50 kit lens,
the 18-55 mm one. I understand the operation of it and using it outside near
the ocean but does it make a difference indoors? I mounted it between my
lens and a UV filter that I use mainly for protection. ...
What is DCIM26 Apr 2008 01:12 GMT3
Every digital camera I have ever owned creates a folder on the card
which is called DCIM.  What does that mean?  I might guess that DC
means digital camera, but what's IM?  Just curious.

NEW YORK - Three detectives were acquitted Friday in the 50-shot
killing of an unarmed groom-to-be on his wedding day, a case that put
the NYPD at the center of another dispute involving allegations of
excessive firepower.

Card read error -- recovery25 Apr 2008 21:59 GMT11
I had a 2gig SD card that showed 'card error' and I tried to retrieve the
pictures off it using a multi-format (CF, SD, etc) card reader (Dazzle)
attached to my USB port.  No luck. Tried lots of downloads of software to
try to retrieve the pictures.  No luck.  Got a 4gig Sandisk ...
Digital Camera with 10k shots uneconomical to repair?25 Apr 2008 15:55 GMT15
I spoke to the Fuji repair center about my camera problem (the flash
memory door switch malfunctioning) and they say that they can probably
fix it.
My question is, given that this Fuji S602 camera has 10k shots on it,

Request for Olympus SP-560 UZ owners (lunar shots!)25 Apr 2008 10:43 GMT12
after some research on the current market I am sort of interested in
the Olympus SP-560 UZ, especially as the price has fallen to a very
tempting level here in Germany.
Yes, I am aware of its major flaws and shortcomings, but do like the
