I'd like to shoot in RAW mode quite a bit, so I'm thinking of a 4GB
card at least.
RAW ( Nikon NEF ) incompatibility  Aperture.17 Jan 2008 05:56 GMT12
I just opened my Nikon D 300 and shot some RAW ( Nikon NEF ) images and
uploaded to my Aperture Photo Management Program ( on Mac Pro). I was
shocked to see that Aperture does not recogonize NEF images. I later
shot in JPEG and aperture took it.
High Dynamic Range Images16 Jan 2008 20:47 GMT4
Has anyone here any experience with exposure blending of multiple RAW
images to obtain a single image with "high dynamic range"?
I would be trying to do this with RAW images from a Nikon D50 on a 1.8

Using Photoshop to blur the background (like shallow depth of field)16 Jan 2008 10:41 GMT79
The basic process is (a) masking off everything but the background and
(b) blurring the background.  The Extract Tool is typically the best way
to do the masking, but other masking tools can be helpful as well,
depending on the image.
32 GB SD card is coming!16 Jan 2008 08:46 GMT20
Toshiba announced it in August 2007 last year and they indicated that
it will be ready for January 2008. Panasonic has just introduced it
recently for market use in the latest CES convention. It heard that it
costs about $700 in Japan.
Canon Quality ?16 Jan 2008 03:16 GMT7
Three years ago, I bought the first Canon Ixus I 4mpx camara. Used to
think that Canon should be good until now. The LCD monitor failed to
show life images, though it can play captured images. Sent for Canon
Service Center and informed that it is an optics/lens unit problem.
"safe" temperatures for lithium batteries?16 Jan 2008 01:14 GMT13
I have a question about lithium batteries that I suspect you guys
might be able to answer since I am sure digital cameras go through
quite a bit of rough treatment.
Basically, I recently got a device that warned (rather vaugely) about
TSA restricts lithium batteries on airplanes16 Jan 2008 00:04 GMT156
The TSA is going to restrict lithium battery carrying on airplanes
beginning Jan 1. The rules are ridiculously complicated but it sounds
like the max in carryon is two or three lithium batteries (counting the
installed battery as one of the two max per the chart, or two spares

well and submitted it directly to Nikon Technical Support lets see

Self cleaning sensors15 Jan 2008 17:29 GMT6
Are   self cleaning sensors on DSLR's really effective or are they only
a marketing ploy to sell cameras?  I do quite a bit of outdoor
photography and would change lenses often in the field.
I am looking at the 5D which has no such feature. Should that be a
CPUs in Digital Cameras?15 Jan 2008 17:21 GMT28
Where can I go to check out the specs on the CPUs inside various digital
cameras?  I want to check out the technical details, Mhz, cache, RISC or
CISC?
Manufacturers don't seem to have that kind of details on their webpages.
Aspect Ratio Essay15 Jan 2008 04:13 GMT59
People are frequently asking me to make them prints that don't match aspect
ratio of the image that they are using to make their request. .  For
example, they will see a 2:3 aspect ration image on my website and ask for
an 8x10 or 11x14 enlargement.  When I tell them that a ...
