Strange Menu Button Issue on New D30024 Dec 2007 23:46 GMT1
I was reading the manual today and configuring my new Nikon D300.  I
started to become annoyed when the menu would blank out before I was
fnished.  Sometimes it would literally black out as soon as I got to
the section I wanted to edit.  I set the c4: Monitor off Delay to 1

Check out the "Expression Edit" feature. My nomination for the most
incredible waste of time and money by a camera company so far. Why not

Sony DSC-S40 White LCD Fault Problem24 Dec 2007 20:30 GMT1
After 18 months of use, and 6 months beyond the warrantee period, my DSC-S40
screen showed just plain white.  I contacted Sony and was quoted 115 UK
pounds ($230) fixed charge to repair it.
Before sending it off I did a quick search of the internet and was amazed to
Taking pictures in cold weather24 Dec 2007 19:01 GMT11
Greetings! I am thinking of going to Iceland and Greenland in coming
summer. I have Kodak P&S Z612 and Z1275 and a Canon 300D DSLR. I sent
an e-mail to Kodak about taking pictures in cold weather. Kodak
replied next day by e-mail that both Kodaks will function from 0 to 40

What is the procedure for scanning 35mm B&W negatives and manipulating

Not sure what reception this will get (but be nice, it is Christmas after
all!)
First, have a look at http://diy.despair.com/motivator.php  This page
contains a 'poster generator' which I've been using with my own photos to
Fluorescent light for studio portraiture24 Dec 2007 00:14 GMT5
I am considering setting up a small studio for portraiture using a
digital camera.  If I used fluorescent lighting, what would be a good
set-up?
Would I get away with just one large light source?

Building a digital copy stand23 Dec 2007 12:29 GMT13
I'm wanting to build myself a copy stand to take clean pictures of
paper and book pages. Scanners don't do a good job with bound books,
especially paperbacks with solid glued spines. The only scanner I know
of that handles books at all well (Mustek OpticBook 3600) is outside my

anyone in the group have experience with these?  What make/models have you
tried and really liked?  Thanks, ~Ray
The UGLY output from P&S superzooms23 Dec 2007 09:30 GMT34
What is the point, really?  Of even offering a 1600 ISO (or more,
depending on the idiocy of the marketing dept) on these cameras??
