Online printing quality20 Nov 2007 21:20 GMT3
I would like to print some digital photos.  There seems to be a huge
number of online printing shops.  I have used WinkFlash in the past

other services.  Is there any one online printing service that stands

Canon SD1000 and Linux20 Nov 2007 16:24 GMT16
Thinking of buying a Canon SD1000 ...
Could I expect to use an SD1000 with Linux and gPhoto approximately as
well as I could use it with Windows and the Canon software?
Would I be able to read or even write the SD cards through an SD slot

scan quality_slides or photos?20 Nov 2007 13:28 GMT10
Is it better to scan from a slide or from a 35mm print?
I have some images of my art, both slides and photos,  that I want
change into digital. Both the photos and the slides are really good
quality. The easiest thing to do would be to scan the photos myself or
Don't waste money on gas, Photo-Comute this Thanksgiving!20 Nov 2007 13:25 GMT1
Just exchange some nice thanksgiving dinner photos instead of driving to
distant friends and relatives.
If we don't reduce demand, can we ever expect gas prices to drop!?!
Wouldn't you rather get a better camera or lens than make the oil companies

rec.photo.digital users should all pitch in for a few atomic bombs20 Nov 2007 12:24 GMT2
To drop on the cities where the Russian and Chinese spammers reside.
Before the group ends up destroyed by these scumbag vultures.
Failing atom bombs, some good bioweapons might work, but short range.
We don't want them getting out of those cities.

Sigma 18-200 & OS20 Nov 2007 10:30 GMT2
Have just replaced my Sigma 18-125 with an 18-200 with Optical
Stabilisation. When I go walkabout I always have a mono pod with me but
the Sigma manual suggests switching off the OS when on a tripod. Does
the body of the lens/camera/hand absorb some of the vibration as a

Olympus in-body Image Stabilization misrepresentation20 Nov 2007 04:09 GMT21
Hello. A word to the wise:

lens." Now they are repeating the same hype with their new E-3 camera.
expo disk, etc.20 Nov 2007 03:00 GMT7
I have seen ads for the Expo disk for white balancing.  I was at a
