DSLR's are best (the manufacturers say so018 Nov 2007 13:13 GMT15
The is an old adage, If heaven was a place that money could buy, then the
rich would live and the poor would die" - loosely translated in its most
literal sense as 'the rich manipulate the poor'
So when we see the seemingly remorseless rise of DSLR's, what are to think?
B&H expansion18 Nov 2007 12:47 GMT36
I just went to the B&H physical store in NYC. They've just remodeled and
the entire second floor is now dedicated to photography stuff. It's
HUMONGOUS. It's like walking into Macy's for cameras. I'm not sure I
like it - I kind of liked the old compartmentalized feel when it was ...

What is the best featured, most durable, easiest, and quickest to
operate monopod for the $$, on the market? Why?
Phil Askey, Canon's good little dog18 Nov 2007 10:59 GMT21
Amazing!  He gives the Canon G9 a "highly recommended" and then gives
the Nikon Coolpix P5100 barely a "recommended."  I ask you, look at
the images below and decide if this guy is a lap dog for Canon (also
consider the last 22 reviews, 7 were for Canons.

Learning more about manual ISO settings18 Nov 2007 10:30 GMT8
I haven't ever really used a camera "properly", relying on "point and
shoot".
I've bought a new camera, a Canon S3 IS. So far I've only used the
camera on auto. There is some noise in the photos which I presume is
Canon Digital IXUS 7018 Nov 2007 10:18 GMT4
I was going to buy a low-end DSLR like the NIKON D40, but decided on
the Canon Digital IXUS 70 instead - mainly for convenience.
For its size this camera takes what I think are exceptionally good
pictures that enlarge well to A3. There is also a very good movie mode

I've now found what would seem to be the definitive story.

Choosing the right lenses... can I use a film lense on a digital SLR     camera?18 Nov 2007 05:29 GMT3
I want to buy the Canon EOS 400D camera. I also have the old Canon
Rebel film SLR camera. Can I use the same lenses I used for my film
camera with my new digital camera? Or do I have to buy special lenses
for my digital SLR? I don't have a ton of camera knowledge and
Built-in flash in P&S digital and DSLR cameras18 Nov 2007 05:01 GMT48
The other day, I saw the new Sony P&S camera - DSC H3. On top of the
camera, it was indicated that it has a strong built in flash. I went
to search about built-in flash feature in a digital camera at the
dpreview website and found the following:
Direct Compact Flash to Hard Drive18 Nov 2007 05:01 GMT29
Is anyone aware of a device that will copy my compact flash directly
to a hard drive? (like a USB hard drive) I would like to avoid
carrying a laptop while I travel, but I need to have the capacity of
compact 120GB hard drive to copy my photos onto as the flash chips are
REPOST:  Where can I get nice holiday cards printed?18 Nov 2007 03:13 GMT1
No one answered last time I posted...
I've seen some professional photographers offer choices of really nice
holiday hards.   Not just the typical cheap stuff you see at costco.   Can
someone suggest some of these places that print nice cards with my photos?
HDR Images.18 Nov 2007 02:18 GMT10
Ok, now that I've mastered producing panaramas (yea, right!)
During my research into panarama stitching programs, I've come across some
stuff about HDR images. Some of the samples i've seen of this are quite
stunning. My quick question is, before I get into reading up on all the
