Looking for advice on camera purchase09 Oct 2007 17:17 GMT5
Hi, I am a casual photographer (family, kids, etc).  I have owned
several digatal cameras, all Canon - A75, A85, A530.  I am looking for
some advice on my next purchase.   But first my preferences.
1) I usually just take pictures, maybe I will make a photo compilation
... what problems have you guys found with the Canon 40D?09 Oct 2007 16:36 GMT26
Decision time is approaching for me to buy the 40D. (The old Rebel
body is ailing.) I've been following the newsgroups and read the
reviews and it things basically look real good.
But still, before I plunk down the money, I would like to ask out loud
Canon S400 pics come out purple09 Oct 2007 16:00 GMT7
I've got a Canon S400.  Several years old.  Took beautiful pictures
until recently.  Now, images on the LCD and on the stored pictures are
barely recognizable -- highly distorted, not quite purely blurry.  In

Nikon D3 video09 Oct 2007 09:04 GMT4
I actually like this video. The person has his video lens looking
through the D3 viewfinder and starts shooting pictures with it. Very
cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz7TcYNib1k
NiMH batteries for my digicam have one battery acting weird.09 Oct 2007 05:02 GMT24
Has anyone ever had this problem before, where an NiMH battery
functions and has "juice" yet it will not recharge?
I had 4 batteries always for my camera and the batteries have always
worked fine and recharged.

+   just for those who might want to try HDR or
associated softwares, it occurs to me to ask the
following here.  Are there higher end / middle end
digitals which will auto-record a preprogrammed series
EOS 400D Underexposure09 Oct 2007 02:29 GMT9
I have a Canon 400D DSLR camera and I am having a lot of trouble with
underexposure.   From reading lots of forums I believe that Canon may have
set the defaults in such a way as it brought about the underexposure in
order to stop the highlights being burnt out.   I also ...

dynamic range and thermal noise08 Oct 2007 17:42 GMT13
dear ng,
I´m still into analog photography but have a keen interest in the
digital technique. As far as I understand it, the dynamic range of an
imaging sensor/camera combo is defined as the maximum signal divided

Hung by the Neck08 Oct 2007 08:55 GMT6
For years now photographers have been recognized by their massive neck
straps supporting their heavy camera equipment. Companies put their names on
these huge straps for advertising and status symbol effect. Nowadays point &
shoot cameras and cell phones are taking over the ...
Printing photos question08 Oct 2007 08:53 GMT7
I'm being asked to sell the pics I've been taken at our Western Riding
Club shows, apparently they're good enough people are actually *asking*
to pay money for 'em (cool!)
I show the pics on the club website (cawri.com), at 640x480, which
1/4" threaded inserts in UK07 Oct 2007 16:37 GMT36
In order to build assorted camera gadgets, one
often runs into the hallowed 1/4" x 20 thread.
