Greetings! I shall visit Japan for 12 days next week. I shall then
visit Bangkok and Angkor Wat [Seim Reap]. I have read many books on
Japan, Thailand and Cambodia for last three months. Guide books are
not written for photographers.  I have learned more from friends in

Recovering Memory Card Data10 Sep 2007 21:19 GMT1
Just had a SD card corrupted and all data lost - apparently. Ran a
specialised memory card data recovery program but no luck.  Then, cos had
nothing to lose, ran Windows Command Prompt check disk, chkdsk.exe against
the card.  It recovered all the files and put them in a 'FOUND.chk' ...

OK now you have taken that perfect picture.  What is the best way to
print it.  I was thinking about the Epson 1800 but how do the pro
shops work and can you recommend a good one to use.
Thanks

Labs: prints the size & ratio of D-70 Image10 Sep 2007 09:15 GMT2
Does anyone know of a lab that makes prints the size and aspect ratio
of the image from the D70, and not just the standard film camera
ratios, such as 5 x 7, 8 x 10, 16 x 20, etc.?
If I look at my image in Photoshop as a .psd, it shows 12.53 in x 8.33
Sony H5/H9 vs Canon S3/S510 Sep 2007 08:28 GMT11
I'd appreciate opinions regarding the relative merits of these Canon versus
Sony models. Having read the reviews, there doesn't seem to be a lot of
difference to point to one or the other being clearly a better choice.
TIA
SIGMA 105mm MACRO10 Sep 2007 00:15 GMT3
I have a  SIGMA MACRO 105mm  1:2.8D which I used with my film camera.
Whilst in the shop buying my first digital SLR I noticed what seems to be
the same lens, only made for a digital camera.  Are there any differences in
the image quality between the two lens?
Image recovery: Recovering fragmented image files from flash memory  cards09 Sep 2007 23:09 GMT24
Hello. I'm trying to figure out if it exists any software that might be able to recover fragmented images from flash memory cards / digital cameras if the card was quick-formatted (i.e. if the card has a zeroed out FAT), or some details about the jpeg algorithm to figure out how ...

Carve but give up half way, even a decayed piece of wood will not
break; carve without stop, even metal and stone can be engraved.

How Can I Convert Raw Pixel Count to File Size?09 Sep 2007 18:40 GMT8
Final print dimensions possible from a file depend, of course, on the
file's size. I've run across info as to the pixel dimensions of a
photo needed for various print sizes. I've also run across minimum
file sizes for various print sizes. So, what's the problem? I want to
