New battery for Canon EOS 400D (UK)24 Jul 2007 15:16 GMT7
I'm looking to buy a spare battery for the above. Of course, the
instructions say that I'm only allowed to fit a pukka Canon battery,
but those are rather expensive:

Make money while reading, eating or doing whatever you want!24 Jul 2007 14:57 GMT1
I've found this great way to make money. You just sign up here and
click on ads. You can do it while you're reading or doing anything.
You have to open each ad for 30 seconds so you just leave it open
while you read, then open the next one straight after and keep doing

too much light24 Jul 2007 07:57 GMT59
Say it's a bright sunny day and you see a stream. You want to take a
creative exposure of the stream such that is shows motion. You clamp
down the aperture as much as possible and set the shutter speed to 4
seconds.
Canon A570 IS replacement?24 Jul 2007 07:53 GMT13
I really like this camera.  It takes AA batteries, it has a shutter priority
setting, the flash is OK, the menus are OK, it's small enough, it's got a
big screen, but the pictures just aren't sharp.  The pix from my Nikon CP800
are sharper. I've still got two months to return it, ...

My computer died a couple of weeks ago, and I now have a new one. The
problem is I have lost the software for my digital camera  - olympus
c-500 zoom.   Anyone got any info on how I can download it, or get
around my problem ?
DSLR that adjusts shutter speed w/ focal length?24 Jul 2007 06:19 GMT36
Do any DSLRs offer a mode to auto-adjust the shutter speed proportionate
to the focal length?  (i.e., if I zoom out to 2x the FOV, cut the
shutter speed by 1/2 and open the aperture by 2x)
When shooting motorsports, the ideal shutter speed is a balance between
Do people still use a shutter release cable in digital camera age?24 Jul 2007 04:35 GMT30
I seem to notice that the advance digital cameras, as well as some (if
not all) models and brands for the DSLR do not have a screw-in
attachement for a shutter release cable. I wonder if this is an
inconvinience for some photographers, or does it now become obsolete
"Hard Disk Full" messages24 Jul 2007 02:11 GMT34
Hi, I have a 10 Gig drive for C with 5Gb of space left, but just now,
I have been received "Hard Disk Full" messages, and some programs have
crashed because it stopped them writing or reading.
Can anyone advise on what to do?
Can you suggest program to play AVI files?23 Jul 2007 22:57 GMT1
I have a bunch of .avi files on a CD. These are little home movies that we
took with our digital camera.
Is there any software that will do the following:
When I put the CD in the drive I would like it to automatically start
Lexar CF card drivers anyone?23 Jul 2007 21:15 GMT4
I just bought a Lexar CF card and it doesn't work with a few of my readers.
Does anyone know if there is a driver that can be installed or are these
cards limited to only some readers?
TIA
My Olympus xD H 1GB card appears to be corrupt23 Jul 2007 21:12 GMT2
I have an Olympus SP-550UZ camera and have tried to transfer pictures from
the xD card to my PC.  I have tried to use an Olympus xD USB adaptor since
this seemed the simplest way.  Initially Explorer recognised the card, then
for no reason that I could see 'lost' it.
DPI23 Jul 2007 20:38 GMT6
I'm looking at this photo contest of your sleeping pet. It specifies
that all photos should be no more than 72 DPI. Of course, I say "what
does this even mean without specifying a print size?" Mrs. Cynicor says
"look, just follow their instructions."
Where will your photos be in a hundred years?23 Jul 2007 18:50 GMT4
You reckon there is even the slightest chance they will show up in a
place like this? :
