| 1D3 power switch "ON" vs. "J"? | 01 Jun 2007 22:36 GMT | 7 |
Got my 1D3 on Tuesday, and since then I've been working my way through the manual playing with most of the functionality. The distinction between the power switch "ON" setting and the "J" setting (not really "J", but a J-shaped line to the quick control dial) continues to elude

I'm curious about the mirror lockup function on the Canon 30D and the Nikon D80. I'm looking for the feature for landscape photography. Am I correct that the D80 does not have a traditional mirror lockup but one for cleaning the sensor which is disabled by turning the camera off? ...

| glass powder inside lens | 01 Jun 2007 16:22 GMT | 12 |
Dropped my Nikon D70. Fortunately I had a uv filter on the end of the lens and a lens cap on top of that. The result is the impact on a sharp rock on the ground forced the lens cap through the uv filter, making a hole in this filter a cm wide. The glass on the main lens itself ...

| Epson vs Canon? | 01 Jun 2007 16:07 GMT | 9 |
I need to replace my Canon S820D. I've been happy with its speed, quality (mostly) and features but now it's doing weird color balance. I do about 60% graphics, 40% glossy photos, not a lot of either. Top candidates are Epson R380 and Canon iP6700D or MP units using same

I have been putting together a portfolio/slide show in Power Point for CD distribution. My first issue is culling the images - my initial target market is little league parents, soccer moms, kids athletics, etc. However, I want to include some portraiture work, candids, and

| Question about Canon hacks | 01 Jun 2007 13:06 GMT | 53 |
I read the thread about Russian hacks for Canon cameras. I know that when dealing with PCs it is always recommended that one have a way to restore devices to pre-hack conditions in case anything goes wrong. I had never even heard of hacking a digicam until that thread appeared.
