I just bought a canon 50 mm 1.4f for my 400D. I want to protect the lens with a filter.. but I have no clue what filter to buy. Will a filter give me poorer images? I've read something about loss in contrast when using filters.

What is the difference in performance between these 2? The 6300 has more ink colors if I understand correctly and I thought that this was supposed to give better quality pictures. -kim
