I was surprised to find out that the Nikon S4 camera had its body _glued_ from the plastic bits and panels. Nikon had a reputation for the quality (and longevity ?) of its products, yet my camera had a panel came off because the glue failed (high humidity ?).

after reading more and more reviews it seems that I'm now nearly totaly unable to chose my next digicam (no slr, too big and costly ). In the first place I wanted more zoom than my old Canon S30, and fast autofocussing. So I narrowed my choice to the Canon S3is and Panasonic FZ7

Just how bad is the purple fringeing & CA issue. Is it something you see a lot or just when pixel-gazing. Any other issues that , had you known, would have put you off buying it. JB

I'm rather baffled by photo sharpening in Photoshop. I've seen the results of sharpening in Picassa but I can't figure out what the best numbers are to enter into Photoshop. Does anyone have any guidelines that they can share?
