Current P&S cameras are PURE garbage.  Here's the latest14 Apr 2007 07:13 GMT64
Compare their review of this piece of junk to the old C-8080, back
when P&S didn't mean trash.
It is clear that the advent of the $500 DSLR spelled the death of high
quality P&S.
is a CF card necessary for a Canon Digital Rebel?14 Apr 2007 07:12 GMT47
i just bought a new Rebel XTI and from the user manual i understand
that it is NOT necessary to use a CF card. i adjusted my settings
accordingly and tried to use my Rebel without the CF card and it told
me that i had to insert a CF card. i inserted a CF card from my old

Corrupt JPG Files14 Apr 2007 07:06 GMT19
I have an HP R717 camera with a load of photos (jpg) on a 1 gig SD
card. The camera shows each photo preview fine and even allows me to
zoom in on each one (not just a thumbnail zoom - this is a zoom of the
actual picture). So it all looks fine. But, when I transfer the image
Is anyone using 2 monitors for photo work?14 Apr 2007 07:01 GMT23
If so, which video card are you using to drive them?  Is it possible,
with PS or other program to have the photo alone on one monitor and
the program controls on the other?
Thanks!
What does your monitor show you?14 Apr 2007 06:55 GMT57
I'm curious to discover what people's monitors are registering/not
registering in terms of shadow details and highlight details.

Photoshop CS2 and A100 RAW files14 Apr 2007 03:34 GMT8
I am using Photoshop CS2, with Bridge version (CS2) 1.0.0.545
(934460).   I was told that this would work directly with the RAW
(ARW) files from my Sony A100, but te raw files just appear as unknown
file types, and I manually have to open them in the Sony RAW
Epson Perfection scanner14 Apr 2007 03:21 GMT6
Does anybody use the 4490 model? My elderly Parish Priest is a photo
enthusiast and has thousands of old negs which he wants to scan. I am not
familiar with his scanner and I am having problems trying to get it to scan
film. It should be all pretty straightforward but when ...
1) Sony Alpha vs Canon EOS 400D : software running on Mac OS X --- 2) RAW to TIFF conversion14 Apr 2007 03:10 GMT5
I'm to buy a photo camera and I really hesitate between Sony Alpha and
Canon EOS 400D (the Nikon D80 is a bit too expensive for me). As of
today I tend to prefer the Canon, even if a wee-bit small for my big
hands, but I have a question to ask you guys about bundled softwares.
Scanner scratches negatives, focus is off = dirty?14 Apr 2007 02:23 GMT3
I bought a Konica-Minolta DiMAGE 5400 II last year right before they
disappeared and initially was very happy with it.  I got good, sharp
scans with little noise.
However, recently I've been having a number of problems.  One is that

Changing horses in mid-stream13 Apr 2007 17:12 GMT24
So here's the deal. I've been a confirmed film shooter for over 30
years, but it's getting to be ridiculous. The digital mindset is
pervasive ("What do you mean I can't have it NOW?"), so for the past
year or two I've considered alternatives. Currently, when I turn in my
