| What do you use to batch rename imported photos? | 13 Jan 2007 15:11 GMT | 8 |
I have a Canon S3 using Windows XP & Picasa (have Photoshop too) and would love if my Canon would allow me to have a custom filename, but it doesn't so I use Magic File Renamer everytime after I import photos (using the format YYYY-MM-DD_HHMM-SS.jpg).

Ok, a couple of months ago I bought 4Gb's worth of SD cards to try and force myself to choose between an S3 and an FZ50 (both take SD). Now, reluctant to support Panasonic's sensor, and desperate for more EVF resolution than Canon are prepared to offer, I find myself aiming

| Is This A Good Time To "Upgrade" P&Ss? | 13 Jan 2007 05:40 GMT | 19 |
I'm in the market for a new point and shoot, having returned the DSLR that was ultimately a great disappointment. Ideally, I'd like a7+ MP camera with image stabilization. I got addicted to Canon's swing out LCD.

| Electronics replacing mechanical parts | 13 Jan 2007 05:18 GMT | 11 |
Okay...so is it really needed for a DSLR (or any digital camera) camera ? I am talking about the mechanical shutter...Why cant you make the 'shutter' with electronics ? Just activate the sensor only for the required time instead of permanently enabling the sensor and using a

| Perceived Image sharpness & MTF | 12 Jan 2007 23:32 GMT | 7 |
My question regards an observation that I´ve made in comparing MTF curves for analog and digital imaging systems with the perceived quality of pictures made with the two different systems. There are a lot of websites out there that do compare digital and analog images

I have a large collection of old slides from the 60s and 70s. I bought an HP Scanjet 4890 scanner and have been scanning them into digital form, TIFFs. A few are dark, underexposed. When you preview these slides with the HP scan utility preview function, ones that are dark
