Hoya filter...on and off alot???15 Jan 2007 09:22 GMT5
Greetings again from Vancouver Island in B.C. Canada
My sister and I just got the Canon Rebel XTi for Christmas.  She just
bought a Hoya circular polarizing filter.   She plans on using this on her
camera while in Hawaii.  The clerk who sold it to her says she has to pay
SD card speed, how fast can my camera write?15 Jan 2007 08:45 GMT7
My camera is incredibly slow at writing RAW files - 6 to 7 seconds at my
count. Generally, for the sort of shots I take this isn't too much of a
problem, but there are times when I may want/need to get shots more
quickly - an unexpected development in the scene I don't want to miss,

I've redesigned the article page on DIMi so I can put larger images in
articles. The rest of the site hasn't changed yet but I would love some
feedback on the page design. Any article on the site will show it, such

Are these 2 lenses worth my time?15 Jan 2007 02:17 GMT7
I am looking at 2 lenses to buy, a Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Macro, the
newer version, and a Nikon 18-55mm ED DX lens. Are these 2 lenses good?
Has anyone used these before? I've heard that the Nikon 18-55 provides
better clarity than the Nikon ED 18-70mm, but can anyone verify that?
Compatible Card Reader for xD H and M15 Jan 2007 01:33 GMT5
I recently bought a 1 GB Fuji Branded Type M XD flash card.  My old Dazzle
Zio xD reader doesn't seem to even recognize it, although the Zio works fine
with my older xD cards.  It is my understanding that the Type M and Type H
xD cards use a different compression scheme than the ...
Cokin P series too Small for 16mm Full Fram DSLR15 Jan 2007 01:18 GMT11
I've been using the Cokin P-Series system with my camera for a few
months. My only complain is that on my 24-105 and 16-35 Lenses I get
vignetting at the lower focal distance, even when using the single
filter holder.

90 minutes with my D8014 Jan 2007 23:41 GMT3
Here is a sampling of 12 shots out of 250 taken with a Nikon 70-300 VR
on a D80. The VR was left on and the camera put in sports mode for fast
shutter (those birdies don't stay still)
All are full-frame, size reduced to 20%. No photoshopping on any.

Can you go lens... then Circular Polarizer Fitler... then "Petal" type hood?14 Jan 2007 20:32 GMT14
I am thinking of buying Canon EW-78BII Lens Hood for EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6
IS Lens.   Can you attach the circular polarizer filter to the lens and then
put the hood on and use the hood to adjust the filter or with this being
"Petal" shape hood is it not possible.  The thought was ...

manual exposure14 Jan 2007 18:23 GMT14
I am trying to use full exposure method on my Rebel xti which I assume
is the M setting.  I am in a photography class and the first exercise
is to use full manual exposure and set the apeture to f/8.  No problem.
Then we are to take a picture of someone in a shady area and adjust ...

With my old Canon EF... a 35mm film camera... I used screw on
filters, with a color-temperature meter, for nice color correct slides.
With a digital camera, and photo-processing software, filters are
