Battery problem with a Cannon (PS IS)29 Dec 2006 05:31 GMT1
I've put in 4 brand new AA batteries and within a few hours (during
which the camera remained mostly closed), the "low battery" indicator
was flashing.
The camara was not plugged into anything.
nightshot?29 Dec 2006 04:41 GMT11
Sony has a "nightshot" feature on some of their cameras and video-cameras.
They advertise zero lux capability.
Besides turning on one or more infrared LEDs, do these cameras put an
infrared filter in front of the lens?  Since the range of the IR LEDs is

We give up. We cannot defeat the Perkoff. Especially Meat Plow.

Top lenses versus top telescopes for telephoto work29 Dec 2006 00:30 GMT10
IMO, a good apochromatic telescope while not possessing a fast f-ratio
will beat any camera lens when it comes to long tele work.  For
instance, compare a Takahashi FSQ106 telescope against a 500mm Nikon
both operating around f5, the Takahashi scope shooting wide open, it
How well does Gorillapod work with a DSLR attached with a soper tele lens29 Dec 2006 00:08 GMT3
If I work with DSLR attached with 1000 nirrror lens and the weight is about
3 kilos. Does a gorillapod (http://www.joby.com/uk/) cope with that. I know
that there are diffirebt types of gorillapods but I have not red any tests
of them.
G7 memory support28 Dec 2006 22:27 GMT3
I purchased not long ago the canon G7 camera,
I would like to know what is the maximum memory capacity G7 support,
Is it 2Gb/4Gb/8Gb?
According to canon specification the camera knows to deal with MMC / SD
Nikon D70 wide angle lens choice28 Dec 2006 22:18 GMT12
I've been considering a new lens for architectural & landscape work -
amateur stuff nothing pro. The link to my site below will give you an idea
of my abilities and what I like to photograph if you're interested. I'm in
the UK BTW.

paper cutter28 Dec 2006 21:27 GMT25
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good paper cutter for cutting
photos.  I only cut one at a time and the paper is no larger than 8-1/2
X 11.  I have one that cost about $35 but it sometimes doesn't cut
exactly square.  Thanks in advance.
cold-weather usage28 Dec 2006 21:12 GMT23
I'm reading the instructions for my new Pentax DSLR that say the
camera's operating range is 0 degrees Centigrade or higher. Where I
live it won't be above freezing until May. What kind of results can I
expect if I'm taking pictures outside at 20 degrees below (Farenheit)??
Pantone Huey28 Dec 2006 20:09 GMT4
Has anyone here used this little $75 monitor calibrator?
It has a pretty good pedigree.....Gretag-MacBeth/Pantone
Does it offer any advantages over Adobe Gamma other than being
quantitative rather than relying on one's own judgment for determining
New 2gig SD card - always 999 exp left28 Dec 2006 20:03 GMT12
I've got a Nikon Coolpix S1 and when I put my pre-formatted new Sandisk 2 GB
memory card in, it said I've got 999 photos left to take, and 11 photos
later it still says I've got 999 left.
That strikes me as odd as the quality setting is at 5 megapixel per picture
Time is near to replace my Oly C5050Zoom....what comes close?28 Dec 2006 19:31 GMT8
Hi all in Photoland,
I am starting to have problems with my trusty Oly C5050Z.
Soon I have to think of a replacement for this great camera.
Have any of you gone through this process of evaluating pros and cons
Settings on a S950028 Dec 2006 19:27 GMT4
Sorry if it's a silly question but can I set an S9500 to use as a
webcam via the USB port? It seems to be stuck in DSC mode.
I want to video some very close up work and need to monitor it live.
The camera is fairly new to me and I know I could do this with my old
Onboard effects on camera - any real advantage?28 Dec 2006 19:02 GMT8
This seems a pretty dumb question, but is there any real advantage to
having onboard effects (B&W, Sepia, etc.) on a camera?
To me the obvious answer is no, because I can do all this with editing
software on a PC, and with much more control. But I don't pretend to be
