Editing software advice needed03 Dec 2006 18:28 GMT13
I'm about to go off and buy a Nikon D80- my first digital SLR. Although I've
a lot of film experience, I've only used a PS digital camera. Problem is
that my PC is a bit dated and will probably not run Photoshop etc. I cannot
afford to upgrade just yet (all spare cash is to go on ...
Confused on Sony Alpha and Home Studio set-up03 Dec 2006 18:00 GMT3
I recently purchased a Jessops external flash home studio system for
use with my Sony Alpha.  The master flash head connects via a sync
cable, but the only connector that Jessops had was a "Minolta
dynax" hotshoe adaptor.  This should have worked, as the Dynax is
Prints - who does the best digital prints on the UK high street?03 Dec 2006 17:18 GMT3
Here's a problem.
When I use a film camera (35mm and medium format) I take my films to
Jessops for prints. In my experience they do just about the best job on
the high street, I have found.

Cloning tool oddity03 Dec 2006 16:20 GMT3
Folks
I downloaded a number of National Geographic wallpapers last week.
Some, while beautiful, were not square and I rotated some of them. As I
was trying to retain the wallpaper ration (1024x768) I started cloning

flawed megapixel experiment03 Dec 2006 08:45 GMT154
NY Times tech columnist David Pogue tried to prove that 13mp does not
yield better results than 5mp, but in a flawed experiment. What was his
technique? He took a 13mp photo, then downsized it to 8mp and 5mp. He
printed all three on a 16x24 inch poster and had people try to figure
Rubinar 500/5.6 - lubrication and other stuff.03 Dec 2006 07:43 GMT6
I recently came into possession of a Rubinar 500mm/5.6 reflex lens. Real
cheap, like new. Came with M42/Nikon adapter.
I need an extension tube and/or a teleconverter to enable me to connect this
to my Nikon. No problem there, I have the right stuff on order.

Can you use a NB-5L battery for the SD600?02 Dec 2006 23:25 GMT1
The Canon SD600 comes with a NB-4L lithium ion battery (760 mAH).  But the
SD700 and higher cameras come with the NB-5L battery (1120 mAH).  Is it OK
to use the NB-5L battery with the SD600?
Canon Digic II vs. Digic III?02 Dec 2006 21:37 GMT15
Is there any real info explaining the differences between these two
image processors from Canon?
Using Google to search Canon's Web site for pages containing mentions
of both, I find nothing except a statement that Digic III offers
35mm Slide Transfer to CD/DVD?02 Dec 2006 19:36 GMT17
I would like to transfer a large collection of 35mm slides to CD/DVD.  Can
anyone recommend a commercial service that they have used to do this that
has provided satisfactory service?
Secondly, what are the major concerns and cautions that I should be
Bibble raw compatability question02 Dec 2006 18:16 GMT1
I just downloaded Bibble Lite.  In reviewing some of their documentation, I
notice it supports the Nikon 8700 (I use Nikon 5700.)  My question: Does
this mean I can't convert my raw files with my camera?  If that is so,
please recommend a raw converter that does support the Nikon ...
Bibble converter02 Dec 2006 18:07 GMT3
Does anyone have any experience with Bibble Lite?  I am thinking of changing
my workflow and shooting raw.  I use a Nikon 5700 and SB80DX flash unit.  I
am reasonably proficient using Adobe Photoshop (v. 6.0.)  My question is:
shooting raw, and using Bibble, can I upload from my ...
