Nikon D40 vs. D80 image quality?05 Dec 2006 19:57 GMT13
I just read about the new D40.
If I'm correct it has a 6.1MP sensor of the same size as the 10.2MP
sensor of the D80.
Are the already any comparisons with regards to dynamic range and

Split density or graduated for compact05 Dec 2006 18:16 GMT1
I have a Canon A610. I'm considering getting an adaptor ring so I can put
polarizer filters and nuetral density filters for landscapes. because of the
wide DOF of these small cameras, I'm wondering if the split is too harsh or

Q. for Ken Rockwell05 Dec 2006 18:12 GMT34
Q.  Why would anyone waste $150 on a P&S camera when a cellphone will
also take pics just as well?  I mean, unless you're Ansel Adams or
somethin, you aren't gonna notice any difference, right?
Photoshop effects not available for some images05 Dec 2006 16:50 GMT4
I've got one or two images, and when I pull them up, I can't use most
of the Effects.
One at least one of them it says I need to rasterize the image first.
Also says the selection area is empty.
negative scanners05 Dec 2006 15:45 GMT8
I was wondering if anyone could make any suggestions as to the best negative
scanners I could purchase. I'm currently using a flatbed scanner but it only
scans 6 frames at a time at the most. I'm wanting something that will do a
lot more (36 perhaps?) and will get on with ...

Monitor for editing with Photoshop Elements05 Dec 2006 10:07 GMT1
I'm looking to buy a flat panel 19" monitor for editing with Elements.
I'm an above average amateur but not a full Photoshop expert!. I've
heard well of the Sony SDM-HX95 and of the SyncMaster 931C but are
there others? I want to spend £300 tops. What features are vital?.
trouble printing scanned photo05 Dec 2006 09:29 GMT14
I am new to this newsgroup, but I hope someone here can help.
I have tried to print photos (commercially processed) that I have scanned,
and they end up faded. The original photo has rich color, is in focus, etc.
The scanned image that I saved looks the same.

SD memory cards & Coolpix L305 Dec 2006 08:21 GMT2
While it's installed in the camera, can the SD memory card be used
as a normal flash memory storage device like a USB flash drive in
Windows? Can the SD card be partitioned so that the camera uses part
and the rest is used for backing up personal computer files in
Which Camera?05 Dec 2006 04:58 GMT8
Hi Guys, I know this isn't a straight forward question to answer, but
I've looked at many reviews etc and I'm stuck which way to go.
Anyway, I'm looking to buy my first digital SLR to learn with (not done
much SLR photography so far) and I've got a list of 4 cameras that
