Architectural photo journey07 Dec 2006 14:05 GMT3
I am doing a photo survey of train stations in India. The intent is to
self-publish a book at some stage. It will be about one third photos
and two thirds narrative.
I will probably only get one crack at this, so I am looking for a bit

Hugin/PanoTools: skewing image, HOWTO?07 Dec 2006 09:31 GMT4
In Hugin, I know how to stitch a certain image.  The result has two
"correct" vertical lines, and one "correct" horizontal line.  [Here
"correct" stands up for "the way I like it" ;-].  The result looks
very reasonable in equirectangular projection.
Looking for an inexpensive, basic camera.... ???07 Dec 2006 08:50 GMT8
I only have about $75 or so, which I know isn't much but I am looking
to just get something basic.  Something that maybe I can use to put up
pics on ebay.  Maybe take a few shots at a kids party and some very
basic things.  I will NOT be printing anything.  Just something very
Turning the new low cost Nikon D40 Digital SLR into a powerful one lens, wide angle to telephoto, 11x super-zoom camera.07 Dec 2006 07:43 GMT2
Now that Nikon has come out with the very compact and very affordable
Nikon D40 Digital SLR, there are a lot of EVF camera users who are
contemplating the move to the Nikon D40 Digital SLR. The base package
price is of course very reasonable and the lens being offered in the
Trading in a D70 for a D4007 Dec 2006 06:55 GMT14
I have a D70 which is currently being fixed by Nikon because it has the
'GBlOD' problem common with the first generation D70s.
When it's fixed, I'm thinking of selling the body and using the 18-70 with
a D40 instead.
Canon A620 Question07 Dec 2006 04:39 GMT8
I just recently bought a Canon A620 digital camera and I have nothing
but good things to say about it.  It doesn't get any better for the
price, $200 brand new.  And for those complaining it doesn't take great
video, buy a video camera, this is a digital camera, if you want super

AI/AIS lenses on D200 etc07 Dec 2006 02:16 GMT6
Can anyone tell me- is there any difference in usability between AI and AIS
Nikkors when using them on the D200 body?
Any reason at all why it would be preferable to use AIS lenses rather than
AI- as it applies to use on Nikon (or Fuji) digital bodies?
one hour digital prints07 Dec 2006 01:45 GMT5
Is there a noticeable quality difference between the typical drugstore
one hour digital prints vs their "premium" prints (such as Kodak
Perfect Touch)? Just for casual usage, not professional.
Flat panel monitor for Elements editing07 Dec 2006 00:29 GMT4
What's the best flat panel monitor under £300 for editing in Elements?
19" or 20". Sony, Samsung or what? Which particular models? What
features are important?
Screwed memory card06 Dec 2006 23:29 GMT4
Let's not go into why !  Lets just say a brain f**** when struggling
with another PC problem.
Windows isn't recognising the card at all and I suspect that one
possibility is that if the file structure is the same as a PC hard
Can a Sigma AF 28-90mm 1:3.5-5.6 be used on a digital SLR?06 Dec 2006 22:55 GMT3
I'm still very new to SLR's. I wanted to get a digital SLR body to replace my
Nikon N75. I haven't gotten to far with my current camera, I like the
convienence of digital photo's better. I'm not sure if I can use my current
lenses, an AF 28-90 and 70-300mm. They are both Sigma (?). ...
