Studio Lighting09 Dec 2006 16:30 GMT1
I am new to studio work and wish to purchase an octagonal softbox (the bigger
the better) and flash head, any recommendations?  I already have 2 falcon
eyes for the side lighting but wish to purchase a higher quality flash head
and stand (preferably on wheels) that will last for a ...
Calibrating the printer for B&W prints09 Dec 2006 16:20 GMT1
Calibrating your monitor is a common procedure to help get the final
prints to closely match what you see on the monitor screen. The next
step is to calibrate your printer so that it prints what is on the
monitor. I have been using the PrintFIX program to construct
Will the Nikon D80 or D200 do this?09 Dec 2006 14:30 GMT45
For candid portraits, I'd like to use the Aperture Mode, set the
camera to max aperture for small depth of field, set the
minimum shutter speed to 1/60th or faster, and have the
camera automatically choose the ISO to meet the selected
Tips for Twin Lite MT-24EX?09 Dec 2006 14:28 GMT5
Santa is going to be bringing me a Canon Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX.  I'll be
using it with an MP-E 65mm, 1-5x, and a EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro.  I've looked
on the web for tips and found some good ones at:

Lens stabilization vs Camera stabilization09 Dec 2006 13:30 GMT119
I'm about to order an expensive Canon lens with IS, but I wonder if Canon
won't soon join the other manufacturers and put out a decent DSLR with
stabilization built into the camera. If I thought they were, I might put off
my lens purchase, later buying the new camera and a non-IS ...

Can anyone suggest some good photo management software?
Basic requirements are for
- Descriptions against each image

Furture Shock!  Pentax K100D09 Dec 2006 05:45 GMT25
Yesterday I got my Pentax K100D.  I had a few scant hours to fiddle
with it, and I can see this is going to take some getting used to.
Before I tell my impressions of this camera, you have to understand
something.  It's not just that I've gone from a film SLR to a DSLR,
ROLLOVER FOR THE 20D!09 Dec 2006 04:39 GMT18
OK sports fans, here's a fun little rollover I made with two pics taken
from the same spot, 60 years apart. Roll your mouse over the photo to
see how Moccasin Bend looked from Lookout Mountain in 1946.

Updating software on a digital camera - Or something like it...09 Dec 2006 02:51 GMT6
Hello.  I have an HP Photosmart 720 digital camera.  I've had it for
several years now.  Lately it's been acting kind of goofy.  Some
pictures are out of focus, seems slow writing the pic to the card.  I
even had an incident where I took some pics and the lens cover wasn't
The Nikon D200 DSLR is still my choice for the best Pro-Am Digital SLR camera.09 Dec 2006 02:30 GMT1
I have used this camera for close to a year now and still consider it
to be one of the best cameras I have ever lifted to my eye. The Nikon
D200 Digital SLR is well balanced in the hand and the controls are easy
to get used to. The weight is not an issue (like it is with the D2x and
Epson paper and printer09 Dec 2006 01:04 GMT3
Is there anyone who would give me a little help with paper compatibility and
Epson printers.
I've just purchased an R1800 (Epson) and the paper choices are minimal IMHO.
The Glossy Photo Paper is not listed and I have well over 100 sheets of
Fuji dominates P&S quality08 Dec 2006 23:28 GMT8
There may be no more bridge cameras.  Metal bodied with 2/3rds or
better sensors, but as far as P&S's are concerned, you cannot beat
Fuji.

Measuring colour temp at home08 Dec 2006 23:01 GMT6
(ONE)  I would like to approximate the color temperature of various
light sources.  This is for use in general photography.
(TWO)  I would also like to approximate the color temperature of the
ambient light in a room after it has been reflected by the various
Photo on Canvas??08 Dec 2006 20:32 GMT7
Kia Ora
I have seen commercially produced great prints on stretched canvas, but am put
off by the rather high price involved.
Is there a method a DYO person can use.
does the noise factor in FZ50 really bother??08 Dec 2006 17:23 GMT41

really bother so much??

some cool photos?
