Nikon D40 vs. Canon Rebel XT?16 Dec 2006 17:49 GMT1
I'm agonizing between the two -- I need a DSLR camera that is small for
travel, takes excellent pictures, in the $600 price range.  They are
both identically priced... I'm worried about the Canon XT because it's
an older model, vs. the Nikon which is brand new (the Canon XTi is out

CS3--the first 24 hours!16 Dec 2006 17:22 GMT7
I believe this very early beta release is a sop to the Macaholics who still
populate Adobe and do not see the computer market  landscape for what it is.
For the Windows user one now has an improved raw converter (it really is),
an arbitrarily changed interface (no more "print with ...
How does the Nikon ML-L3 wireless remote work?16 Dec 2006 15:11 GMT3
I'm curious about how the Nikon ML-L3 works.  If there were two cameras,
side-by-side, would the remote trigger them both?  If not, how does a
camera know if the remote is controlling it or the other camera?  Does
anyone have any experience with this?
Nikon D70: Dark Circular Marks in Sky16 Dec 2006 10:22 GMT36
I've noticed that when I take photos on the beach over the ocean, I often
get circular dark marks in the sky.  I took a small crop from one of my
shots and uploaded it to: http://members.aol.com/xtx99/problem.html  If
anyone can tell me what these 3 circular marks are in the sky ...
Ball head question16 Dec 2006 06:04 GMT3
I am about ready to buy a tripod and ball head...but I have one, probably
stupid question.
I am going to get a Manfrotto ball head and am looking at the 484RC2 and the
486RC2...is the only difference that the 486 holds more weight?

Problem with Nikon Scan 4.0.216 Dec 2006 01:22 GMT4
Is there any better scanning software available other than the Nikon
Scan software that came with my Super CoolScan 9000?
In addition to operator interface design issues, it seems to have a
problem with crashing occasionally.  When such a crash occurs, it

I own a Canon 10D. I have been very happy with this camera. But it is
time to upgrade.
Currently I use the 10D for the following (ranked in order of importance):
1.    Photographing my daughter (16 months old)
A good lens for my Canon Rebel Xti...15 Dec 2006 19:57 GMT28
I'm going to purchase a rebel xti body without the kit lens. I'd like
to find a nice all around lens, auto focus, with some ability to zoom.
I plan to do mainly outdoor photography, plants, animals etc. I would
like to spend less than $350.

mpeg slideshow info15 Dec 2006 18:19 GMT1
My question is to those who have successfully migrated their still pictures
to mpeg to be shown on HD widescreen.  What's the ideal pixel per inch for
the image and what is the ideal height and width in pixels for the
background matt? Does a native screen resolution of either ...
