| lens vs. image sensors in digital photgraphy | 24 Dec 2006 11:41 GMT | 219 |
Going back to the old style film cameras, how would you rate for the distribution of critical components of a camera which contribute to producing excellent photos (excluding human talent and touch) ? Would you say they were 60% lens quality, 30% technical/mechanism or photo

| Laser VS Inkjet | 24 Dec 2006 10:46 GMT | 22 |
I know we've all had this discussion before but, I have a friend that wants to print-out his pictures taken with his Nikon D2X. He's leaning in the direction of a 9 color inkjet but I think he should consider a color laser.(For cost reasons) I would appreciate any and all comments ...

Kodak C875. I'm ready to purchase one. I like the Kodaks and no one is ever going to build the camera I really want... so, from owners only, what do you think of this

Any way to make the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S85 take other memory than small 128MB memory stick? Incompatible, apparently, with anything else I've found. Thanks in advance.

| Gimp (was Which Software) | 24 Dec 2006 00:51 GMT | 2 |
OK I tried Gimp. A little confusing at first, but after playing with it for a couple of hours and reading some of the good tutorials, I find it easier to work with than IrfanView. However, after manipulating my first 35mm slide image and getting the color

| Nikon D70 - Upgrading from the 18-70 Lens? | 23 Dec 2006 21:09 GMT | 16 |
I'd like something with some decent zoom. Is there such a thing as an all-in-one lens that will do say 18-200? And what do I need to look for to make sure any lens I buy will be as future proof as possible? (i.e. fit as many possible different future D-SLR cams)?

| IrfanView - losing navigation | 23 Dec 2006 18:05 GMT | 18 |
Bit of an odd one this, and I wonder if any other IrfanView users have come across similar behaviour please? My usual casual browsing method is to open a My Computer folder of JPGs and d-click the first one I want to view. Then I'll either use the L or R arrow keys, or click

| IrfanView - thumbnail browsing | 23 Dec 2006 15:04 GMT | 6 |
I'm using IVs thumbnail view. After scrolling down to view a particular section of thumbnails, if I switch away and back to IV the view has reverted back to the very top. I have to scroll or page down again to find my last position.
