Reason for less RAW support??06 Nov 2006 04:11 GMT67
My fantastic Canon S 50 has finally given up the ghost after about 3
years of much use and abuse. Looking at the specs for the current
model, S 80 I notice that it doesn't do RAW format. A bit more digging
and I find that if I want to stay with RAW I'll have to go to a SLR
Still photographers - NFL06 Nov 2006 03:17 GMT8
I noticed the lenses on the sidelines of the Bears game were mostly
brown and gray.  Last year they were almost all white.  Is Canon
loosing ground?  Who is making the brown and gray barrel lenses?
Thanks,
Is this photo REAL or SURREAL?06 Nov 2006 02:33 GMT10
Hi... I'm using a crappy monitor here and this picture looks awesome to
me but I can't tell if it's a real photo or something generated from a
3D program.  My guess is the latter but I was wondering what you guys
thought.
Nikon D50 - Circuit City advertising as a "closeout"06 Nov 2006 02:27 GMT4
It looks like the D40 rumors are true ... Circuit City has a sale this
week on the D50 and they are advertising it as a closeout with no
rainchecks.

Focus problem on Canon S3 IS06 Nov 2006 02:00 GMT11
Images ex my 2 month old Canon S3 IS are not evenly in focus over the

With the camera mounted on a stand @600mm off flat printed material, I
checked that the material is level & that the end of the camera lens is
"Chinese" Camera Stores06 Nov 2006 00:56 GMT34
Well, I thought I'd seen most everything (not X-rated, that is) online.
Yesterday, searching for deals on a Rebel XTi, I came to a website in
NYC that sold almost all in-demand DLSRs for nearly half the price.  I
called a 800 number and spoke with a really friendly guy who even gave
Down sampling and Nyquist limits05 Nov 2006 20:50 GMT20
But pretty much the discussions of late have been all talk and no one
showing the effects of their preferred way to limit the higher
frequencies when down sampling.
So I have put up an image that if not down sampled well will look like

fuji s7000 1gb xd problems05 Nov 2006 17:25 GMT5
I have a fuji s7000 that I bought a 1gb xd card for.  I have had
nothing but problems with the card.  It only works about half the time.
I have tried formatting tha card, and nada.  When it does "work" and I
take a picture using my flash, the camera freezes for about 20 seconds.
Monitors--What to look for05 Nov 2006 17:17 GMT7

technical specs should I look for in a monitor.
want to use MOV files from Pentax W1005 Nov 2006 14:02 GMT7
I'd like to be able to join my cam's MOV files into a single AVI file
that I can edit. There are lots of programs out there purporting to do
that but not one so far that works.
Anyone find one that works? Wondering if the W10's quicktime movies are
