film question01 Oct 2006 16:42 GMT4
This is the kind of film question that rec.photo.digital people might
know the answer to.
I've been keeping a roll of 800 film in the refrigerator for two and a
half years now.  Is it likely to still be good?  At what point do I

Would prefer a camera that just charged and transferred pics via a single
USB cable.

and have a significant yellow cast.  (The camera was a Canon 1D MII N,
most (if not all) shots were taken with auto white balance.)
self-enclosed digital camera module?01 Oct 2006 04:31 GMT1
Does anyone know of a small, self-enclosed digital camera system capable of
capturing .jpg images into a local memory for later download through
something like a serial port or a USB port?
Low power and small size are primary considerations.  An interface to a
Sandisk Extreme Firewire CF card reader01 Oct 2006 03:30 GMT31
Is anyone using this new card reader yet?  If so, are you actually
getting 40 MB/sec downloads on PC laptops?
Do you see these speeds only with the Extreme IV cards?  What kind of
download speeds do you see with other cards like say the Extreme and
Flash unit for the D80 camera01 Oct 2006 01:16 GMT12
A recent thread about a flash unit for the Niknon D80 canera clearly
recommended the Nikon D800 flash. I have an older D80 flash used with
the old D100 camera. I compared the specifications of the D80 and D800
flash units to see what would be gained by upgrading. I found that an
strange optical effect01 Oct 2006 01:07 GMT6
Can someone, please, explain how this strange effect was achieved: I
saw it in the videoclip
"Air Rings" (at rent-a-cloud.com). It is a large illuminated ring which
changes shape as the sun moves down. It doesn't look like done via
