Digital vs. film08 Oct 2006 19:14 GMT10
I was wondering: How many megapixel does standard film translate to? I want
to buy a digital camera that is at least as good as film.
Thanks
Visual perception and gamma encoding08 Oct 2006 16:59 GMT3
dealing with linear, non-linear and gamma encoding of digital images
I´ve read several older postings in this and related newsgroups
stating that our visual perception allows us to distinguish more
lightness levels in the brighter parts of an image than in it´s darker
D80 and SB26?08 Oct 2006 16:30 GMT6
I've been trying my SB26 speedlight with my new D80. Using the SB26 in
non-TTL auto and the camera in aperture priority I get excellent
results. This is in a situation where the main light source is the
flash.
mounting and laminating inkjet prints08 Oct 2006 16:24 GMT1
I am thinking about mounting my inkjet prints onto acidfree foam core and
then laminating them using cold pressure.   Has anyone ever done this?  What
was your experience?  Do you know any sites that explain the different types
of materials?  I am trying to figure out a way to mount ...
Canon S3 IS vs. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7?08 Oct 2006 15:49 GMT17
I am considering buying either the Canon S3 or the Panasonic Lumix FZ7 but
their reviews and specs are so similar that I'm stymied. I'd appreciate your
advice/experience with either camera.
Thanks,
Canon AF point illumination08 Oct 2006 09:56 GMT2
Got a Canon 20D.  I use it quite a bit in sports mode to capture moving
subjects.  The AF points selected used to come on when I press the shutter
half-way.  I've done something and the AF points no longer light up.  It
still auto-focuses tho.
Ixus 60 - why 30 fps?08 Oct 2006 06:07 GMT8
I've just noticed that the AVI movie clips I get from my Canon Ixus 60
(Powershot 60 outside UK?) have a frame rate of 30 fps. I have the
camera set to PAL, not NTSC, so isn't that wrong? I'm worried that it
might cause problems when I include such clips in DVDs for playing on
Help please w tripod or monopod08 Oct 2006 05:58 GMT2
I am looking for a very light weight - sturdy, compact  tripod (packable) w
a light compact ball head
or a monopod w a light small ball head that I can also use a  walking stick.
I could also use advice on where to buy it?
Organising photos from Nikon and Canon?08 Oct 2006 05:04 GMT13
I've just bought myself a Nikon D80 (first DSLR). We already have a
Canon P&S.
Does anyone know if it's possible to use the Canon ZoomBrowser program
to pull in shots from the D80.
Raw files 08 Oct 2006 02:58 GMT57
I am very new to digital photography and i know that it is highly recommended
that you shoot in Raw mode.  However i am having difficulty in uploading my
images from my Cannon EOS 350D onto my computer.  The computer is saying i
have no images available when clearly i have, can ...

XTi vs 20D07 Oct 2006 20:23 GMT13
I'm finally thinking that I might get a dSLR.  I already have lots of
great Canon lenses, so I'm locked into Canon.  I'm wondering why the
new XTi (400D) at 10Mpix is cheaper than the older 20D at 8Mpix.  Are
the only advantages of the 20D the faster shutter speeds and quicker
