Waterproof Digital16 Oct 2006 10:01 GMT2
Looking for a good quality weatherproof/waterproof P&S digital that
also has an optical viewfinder.  Replacing some well-used and durable
Oly Stylus 300's.  Any ideas/opinions?

Which Gitzo tripod16 Oct 2006 07:19 GMT23
I am currently considering changing my Uniloc (Benbo) type tripod for a
carbon fibre model such as one of the Gitzo range.
I will primarily be using the tripod for natural history (mainly bird)
photography both on location and from a hide on occassions.

Pentax k1x0D long exposures (astro photography)16 Oct 2006 00:41 GMT3
It is yet quite hard to find at least several expert reviews on one of
the 2 new Pentax DSLRs, so behavior at high ISO and long exposure i.e.
5-10-15+ minutes is to me so far unknown.
Is it better or worse than the Nikon's D50/D70 or one of the *ist
Motorola L6 Blurry Photos16 Oct 2006 00:21 GMT4
Just wondering what's causing this problem...  When I take a photo, the
still image appears on the screen to be nice and sharp.  But if I store it
and then go back to look later, sometimes it is too blurry to even be
recognizeable.  It's like the first frozen image I see was not ...
Need Help!15 Oct 2006 22:37 GMT1
I am using a Nikon CP 5700 (using it for 4 years now.)  Today I attached my
SB80DX unit to it and all was well.........until the "red" flashing SB
indicator in the viewfinder of the camera started to blink red and now it
won't quit.  The camera is working fine except for this flash ...
Epson Photo Storage Viewers15 Oct 2006 20:08 GMT31
Does anyone have experience with the Epson P-2000 or P-4000 photo storage
viewers? Are they worthwhile, or is there a better solution to temporary
storage and viewing?
ISO ratings for cheap cameras15 Oct 2006 20:00 GMT8
I'm thinking of upgrading my aged digital camera. Nowdays it seems
possible to buy a cheap camera with 6MP and a 3x optical zoom, as
opposed to my current 1.3MP and no optical zoom at all. But when
looking around someone in a shop said that the cheap cameras had poor

Please explain TIF And RAW15 Oct 2006 19:48 GMT10
I know you all must get asked this question many times, but I'm brand
new to digital (but am film savvy) and don't find the answer on a quick
perusal of the newsgroup.
I understand that JPEGs lose information when they are manipulated, but
Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 AIS15 Oct 2006 18:15 GMT22

am talking about the ED version and have a D200).

Could North Korea fly it's 6-10 weapons on commercial airliners to targets on the West Coast?15 Oct 2006 18:06 GMT75
If the US could drop a Fat Man bomb back in WWII, how hard would it be
for RNK to retro-fit several commercial airliners to hold a single
nuclear weapon. Using suicide pilots on a normal, scheduled flight plan
across the ocean and striking targets such as Anchorage, LA, Seattle,
