Noise Ninja20 Oct 2006 09:54 GMT20
While I am generally happy with my Panasonic DMCLX1, the noise at higher
ISO is really getting to me.  Is Noise Ninja worthwhile, and can it be
used without Photoshop?  I'm not certain what they mean by 'stand
alone.'
Edited JPEG Metadata in XP sometimes not "sticking".20 Oct 2006 02:57 GMT1
Using the picture viewer in Windows XP, if you right click on a
picture or thumbnail, then click on the "properties" tab, you can go in

For some of my JPEG files this information "sticks" and for others it
What are the best cameras & set ups out there now19 Oct 2006 23:56 GMT13
Haven't been paying attenention to what's been happening out here in
the digital camera field for awhile now. But some of my medium format
cameras may need replacement soon. Looking for a good camera to
augment them. Still plan on using them for the more important stuff.

Cheap batteries for Lumix DMC-FZ719 Oct 2006 23:38 GMT8
I have a Lumix DMC-FZ7 and have been shopping around for a spare battery. At
a site called bestbatt.com I found a third-party battery for $11.25, which
is far cheaper than anything else I've seen. I'm just wondering if it's any
good, and if anyone has experience with ultra-cheap ...
A new kind of sensor19 Oct 2006 22:33 GMT33
Scientists have coated a silcone substrate with quantum dots.  The
dots produced proportional voltage when exposed to light.  The next
step is to coat the dots onto a circuit that will allow them to
transfer the charge.  Quantum dots are in some instances a thousand
Washington Monument19 Oct 2006 22:27 GMT10
Perhaps it is foolish to bother photographing something like the
Washington Monument which everybody else has already done.
Nevertheless, after looking through the first 15 pages of results for
"Washington Monument" at images.google.com,

Curves and unity gamma19 Oct 2006 19:39 GMT7
My very basic question concerns the use of curves in digital print
preparation and I´m asking it as someone who is as much interested in
visual perception as in photography but has not that much knowledge of
the latter. As I understand it the negative-positive process strives to
Pocket camera19 Oct 2006 19:21 GMT4
I've got an EOS 350D, and I'm very happy with it.  But I'd like
something I can carry around all the time.
The most important requirement is that it be small and light; ideally
it should fit in a coat pocket.
What's the Difference Between Aperture Setting, Exposure Compensation, and ISO?19 Oct 2006 18:35 GMT6
I'm not a left-brained (or is it right-brained?) technical type, and it
seems all aspects of digital and traditional photography basically all
deal with how much light is allowed into, and then captured
successfully or unsuccessfully, by a camera.  I've searched the
