does brand name CF card work better?24 Sep 2006 02:34 GMT8
just did a quick check on 4GB compact flash prices
they range from $75 for an "ACP" brand to $170 "simpletech" brand.
Is there any difference in terms of reliability, or are they all pretty much
the same?
EOS400D and red eye24 Sep 2006 02:31 GMT10
I was out last night at a function, firstly I realised I had the wrong lens
on - a sigma 70-300 so I was having to shoot from a bit of a distance. The
problem was I found I was getting very bad red eye even with the red eye
option "on" on the camera.

Resolution23 Sep 2006 21:48 GMT11
This may sound like a stupid question:
If I only plan on viewing my photos on my computer desktop (1600x1200),
does it do any good at all to take pictures at any resolution higher
than 1600x1200?  If not, my 7.1mp camera may as well be a 2.0mp..
nikon capture 4.4.2 - raw pics save with bluish haze?23 Sep 2006 21:34 GMT1
I usually edit my raw images with nikon capture to get the color mode
and temperature correct and then open to edit in adobe 16 bit mode.  I
was doing this when I noticed that after I had set color temperature
and everything correctly, I opened it up in photoshop cs2 and the image
Kodak Easy Share DX4530,23 Sep 2006 21:29 GMT5
My friend has this camera and I asked her to send me an image for
printing. She sent one at 72 resolution. I asked her to give me one at
a higher resolution and she doesn't know how. Can anyone tell me if it
is so hard to change the resolution on that camera? I would really

Do All Wal Marts Look The Same?23 Sep 2006 21:04 GMT72
Do all Wal-Marts look the same? That is the question at
http://mywal-mart.blogspot.com/
The idea is to get a photo of every Wal Mart out there. You're all
invited, encouraged even, to go take a photo of your Wal-Mart and come

ORF to DNG23 Sep 2006 12:09 GMT5
I converted my ORF files to DNG using Adobe DNG converter. When
viewing a directory with both the ORF and DNG files with FSView slide
show I noticed that the DNG files look slightly brighter and a bit
more saturated. Is this a prpoerty of the conversion or just how
Crave Talk: All hail the analogue revolution23 Sep 2006 09:18 GMT9
"It sounds like an unlikely revival, but vinyl is scratching and
crackling its way back to the top. Seven-inch vinyl records are once
again a popular format for some indie singles' sales in the UK. Sales
of 7-inch singles have risen to well over one million this year."
Macro confusion23 Sep 2006 03:21 GMT9
I am planning to buy my first dslr. I also do a lot of closeup flower
photography with my digital compact camera. The focal length of the
macro lenses has me totally confused. Which would a better lens for my
primary purpose of photographing flowers on a table top -- 50mm or
eBay seller friendly camera23 Sep 2006 03:11 GMT56
My current Fuji camera is showing suspicious signs that may be
indicative that it will not last much longer.
I am looking for some tips on buying a "professional" ebayer friendly
camera.
Digital Rebel lens to Film Rebel?23 Sep 2006 03:02 GMT7
I bought a new Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT and it works great. It came with
an 18 - 55 mm lens.
I already had a Canon EOS Rebel film camera with a 35 - 105 mm lens.
I swapped the bigger film lens to the digital camera and it seems to work
