| Does faster CF card make significant difference for D70s? | 25 Sep 2006 04:26 GMT | 27 |
Sorry for asking this type of question; but I couldn't find an already-posted answer on this newsgroup for it. Anyhow... I have a Nikon D70s. The SanDisk Extreme III compact flash cards are supposed to be quite quick. I'm using a 2 GB Kingston Elite Pro. It works, no

| Rebel XTi .CR2 files/Apple Aperture incompatibility? | 25 Sep 2006 00:08 GMT | 1 |
Since I started using my Rebel XTi, Apple Aperture failes to recognize the new 10.1 megapixel .CR2 files from that camera - it still recognizes the old Rebel XT's 8.0MP .CR2 files, but not the new ones. Aperture shows a thumbnail of it when it opens the Import window, but

| Question on good battery tester | 24 Sep 2006 23:35 GMT | 6 |
I have a Samsung Digimax V3 - not bad for a P&S. My main problem is the extremely limited number of shots I get with my AA 2500 mAH rechargeables. I've tried alkalines, which don't do too well. Energizer Lithium did better, but I still get nowhere near the thousands of shots

| Cheap L-brackets? | 24 Sep 2006 22:43 GMT | 23 |
For various reasons I want to mount a camera "sideways", i.e. I want do do the equivalent of taking a vertical picture with the camera on a tripod, while keeping the tripod head horizontal. The obvious way to do that is with an L-bracket that screws into the

| dynamic range and A/D conversion | 24 Sep 2006 20:25 GMT | 18 |
Can anybody explain to me if there is a connection between the dynamic range of a digital camera/CCD-/CMOS-Sensor and the bit width of the analog-to-digital converter - does a 12 bit converter lead to a larger dynamic range than a 8 bit converter - and if so why?

| Canon drop-in PL-C filter for 300mm f/2.8 | 24 Sep 2006 20:08 GMT | 1 |
I posted this a couple of days ago in rec.photo.digital.slr-systems but haven't received any responses, so I thought I'd try here. Is Canon's drop-in PL-C filter the only reasonable circular polarizing for a Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS? I see that a drop-in threaded adapter

| Canon PowerShot A530 stitching question | 24 Sep 2006 19:34 GMT | 7 |
I just bought a Canon PowerShot A530 digital camera. I chose it because it is inexpensive and has an "auto-stitching" function. This feature, when used with the included software, makes the process effortless. I can stand in the center of a room and use the "stitch assist" ...

| Camera raw for Nikon D80, again | 24 Sep 2006 19:06 GMT | 11 |
Adpbe just published a list of new additions to its Camera Raw plug-ins support. The Nikon D80 was not on the list. In the past, such Camera Raw additions have been made every 4 months or so. Is there any evidence that the D80 plug-in will be published any sooner than the

| SD card formatting | 24 Sep 2006 14:40 GMT | 9 |
I got a new 2gb Scandisk SD card for my wife's SD400 and found that I cannot format it. It allows about 145 5mp pictures to be taken and then gives and error message. I figured the card might be bad (got it on Ebay) and the seller sent me a new one. I tried the new one with the ...

| anti-aliasing and scanners, what's the deal? | 24 Sep 2006 12:23 GMT | 5 |
For example, say I have an 8x10" view camera transparency with lots of fine detail. I scan it in a flatbed scanner which uses a linear CCD sensor at 300 dpi. Do these scanners have any AA filters? If not, don't I get aliasing?

| Canon A710 IS | 24 Sep 2006 05:43 GMT | 1 |
I am considering purchasing the Canon A710 IS. It has what they call a "digital teleconverter" feature that, if you shoot at lower than the max resolution of 7.1mp, allows you to zoom in past the optical limit of 6x without any image degradation.
