West Indian Day Parade pictures. Used 18-200 VR lens.11 Sep 2006 01:48 GMT1
On Labor Day in Brooklyn we hold the West Indian Day Parade. With some two
million people in attendance, it is NYC's largest parade. Things at a
parade happen too fast to be switching lens. So Nikon's 18-200 (giving me
effective 27-300 on my D200) gives me a very useful range.

Hypothetically, which of these two "build paths" would be better for
the foreseeable future:

shop to clean dust blobs?11 Sep 2006 00:58 GMT8
My Canon 10D has recently been developing dust blobs.  This is
especially evident in blue sky pictures.  Can anyone recommend a
reputable online camera store where I can send my camera in for
service?
camera malfunctions before my vacation11 Sep 2006 00:33 GMT17
I recently splurged and bought a refurbished Canon S80. 3 weeks later,
it malfunctioned and I had to sent it back to Canon. I bought this
camera specifically for a trip to Italy I'm taking next week. I had
spent literally weeks researching every type of feature on dozens and
Is the street photographer an endangered species?10 Sep 2006 23:14 GMT4
I was reading an article today about a show featuring the photographs
of Lee Balterman. He spent years (particularly in the 50s and 60s)
wandering the streets (and bars) of Chicago, camera in hand,
photographing simply because, as he puts it, "I'm crazy about

Nikon D80 - any sites with sample photos?10 Sep 2006 21:30 GMT2
I've checked dpreview.com but they don't have any sample pictures yet by
the D80. Do any of you know of any sites that have posted sample
pictures?
Thanks.
Some recent AA NiMH batteries10 Sep 2006 20:35 GMT14
There is a respectable consensus that Sanyo makes great NiMH batteries,
and there is a model with a claimed capacity of 2700 mAH on sale at
Thomas Distributing.
Thomas D. also offers a Maha PowerEx cell that claims 2700 mAH.
Fujifilm doesn't want to be contacted?10 Sep 2006 19:39 GMT3
I tried to send email to fujifilm. However, after navigating on their web
site for 10 minutes I was still unable to find an email address, fax number,
or phone number. Clicking on "contact us" just puts me in an infinite menu
loop.
Canon 580/550 EX question10 Sep 2006 19:02 GMT1
I've not yet located either manual, but in the meantime can anyone tell
me if, when using the 550 EX as a slave (to a 580 EX), can I manually
stop down the flash output while it's in slave mode? I've tried, but
can't seem to get there.
Windows Movie Maker10 Sep 2006 15:46 GMT3
I was wondering if anyone knew of a replacement program for Movie Maker.
One that gives you more of a chance to change timings and such after the
project is put together.

Glass vs. Acrylic10 Sep 2006 11:06 GMT12
I have a question on framing and covering photographs . . . .
I have been selling a few digital print photos, and I am looking to be
more agressive in selling my images.  I have been buying 18 X 24 inch
non-glare glass panes for app. $26 USD, but I can cut costs by
