Battery life on the road13 Aug 2006 08:08 GMT15
There's a bit of a preamble to the question, but I'll try not to bore you to
tears.
I've done a great deal of travel to some very out-of-the-way places over the
years, for periods of 2 weeks to 18 months. In all that time, I've used an
200, 300 or 400mm zoom or telephoto for Canon 350D - cheap hire?13 Aug 2006 04:51 GMT5
I have recently bought a 350D with 17 - 85 IS lens. I also ordered the
70 - 700 IS lens but it won't come for another 2 to 4 weeks.
Unfortunately I need the lens before then, so I am looking to hire or
borrow a similar lens, whther IS or not, for 2.5 weeks.
Canon 100-400 F4L IS12 Aug 2006 22:48 GMT1
Anyone else heard of this rumour of a 100-400 F4L IS?

Sounds good.  Also, means that you could use a 1.4X converter and not lose
autofocus.
Poster printing from small files12 Aug 2006 21:08 GMT5
I know every retail store imaginable now does this but there was one
mentioned here about a year ago which was fantastic at taking small files
and making them larger. They said they didn't care about size or resolution
and not to try to upres yourself, just send the file. A few ...

When To Use Black And White12 Aug 2006 15:07 GMT13
Some photos look better in black and white than they do in colour, however I
am yet to understand why.
Does anyone know of a way of judging which photos would look better in black
and white, without converting the photo and seeing the results?

Sony DSC-V1 Dead? Views Appreciated Please12 Aug 2006 11:46 GMT3
Approx three years ago I bought a Sony DSC-V1, and been quite happy
with hit. Just came back from a family holiday in Cornwall, and this
morning downloaded the holiday pics to the PC. Horror, really strange,
some almost psychedelic. Others OK, but most are out of focus or

Nikon D80 Hands-on Preview12 Aug 2006 08:54 GMT26

What we have here is a fully featured smaller 3fps D200 . . . . at half
the price.
Production of 1,000,000 a year will not meet demand.
Weird computer/photography problem12 Aug 2006 08:40 GMT17
This is a bit strange so bear with me.
I have 2 pix taken within minutes of each other using the same camera
set on automatic.
I put the camera's memory card in the PC to view them and they both
The Tale of the Traveling Nikon12 Aug 2006 03:57 GMT31
Once upon a time a lady found a digital camera on a downtown park
bench.  She happened to work in my office and since she knew nothing
about cameras asked me if it was any good or worth keeping.  Sadly, it
was a Nikon Coolpix 4100, a 4MP piece of junk hardly worth saving.  The
RAW software12 Aug 2006 01:53 GMT9
I've jsut taken some RAW+jpeg with my Konica Minolta SLR for the first
time.  I've got FastStone Image viewer which is meant to handle RAW but
it just ceases up (even with the jpegs, which isn't normal).  Anyone
know of some other software I can download and test for RAW processing.
