Amateur seeking advice21 Aug 2006 19:41 GMT8
Hi there, This might be the wrong group but it seems like a very good
place to start. I'm a relative beginner planning to buy an SLR camera
in the next few weeks as I'm going to Canada in September - some of the
most beautiful scenery on the planet. I'd like some advice about the
using tinted gels to shoot artwork21 Aug 2006 19:40 GMT4
i THINK a very well known artwork shooting studio here in
nyc(jellybean) uses, along with polarizers, tinted gels to get their
phenominal 4x5's. i ask them once long ago, and they were either
close-mouth about their "secret" or maybe the process was too involved
Using Photoshop To Get The Best Out Of RAW Images21 Aug 2006 19:29 GMT4
I have quite a few RAW images on my PC, however I haven't learnt how to get
the best out of them when converting them yet.
Any recommendations on good Photoshop books (focusing more on the
photography side of things) for learning how to mainly get the best out of
Can't format my 2GB SD card to be 2GB21 Aug 2006 19:23 GMT1
I have a Kingston 2GB SD card, and I've tried formatting it with my
laptop, camera, desktop, pocket PC, etc. and all devices can only
format it to 960MB. I've also tried putting it through a SD card
reader. How do I get it back to 2GB?

Print multiple images21 Aug 2006 18:56 GMT5
HI After the annual holiday photos I'd like to print  them out simply -
just attach the camera, and print out all the images. What software
will allow me to do this easily? I've got photoshop cs and one or two
other things. Any suggestions appreciated.

one like this.
Advanced Point and shoot?21 Aug 2006 16:56 GMT4
One of my "wish list" cameras is a APS sized sensored camera with a high
quality zoom covering 28-70mm, f/3.5-5.0 to keep it compact. The interface
would be simplified with no pic modes or video, just P, Av, Tv, M, B and
full auto. Of course, it would do RAW files. Power would ...

Tripod Recomendation21 Aug 2006 16:12 GMT10
I would like a recommdation for a tripod to use with an Evolt 500.  I would
like it lightweight and small ( not a mini) to travel with and of course not
expensive. Is this an imossible dream. Thanks in advance.
Stitching panos21 Aug 2006 14:29 GMT15
There's been a fair bit of discussion on panoramic shots and the like
lately.. I have a question though. :)
The G2 I use has a 'stitch assist' setting that allows you to maintain
current f/shutter and kinda gives you a preview of what the shot will
Is 4GB SDcard compatible with SD200 SD300 IXUS30 IXUS40??21 Aug 2006 12:59 GMT1
Are 4GB SD cards compatible with Canon SD200, SD300, IXUS30, and IXUS40
digicams?  I'm using a 1GB SD card with 50x speed.  I've noticed the
4GB variety comes in speed up to 133X or even 150X.  I'm just not sure
if my camera is up to date enough to handle these new SD cards.

IS vs high ISO21 Aug 2006 10:52 GMT7
For many people, IS has become an integral part of picture
taking, and some would say it's indispensable. And I guess
most here have heard about Fuji's claim that the lower
noise of their cameras and the resultant higher usable ISO
Nikon D70 use with Remote Speedlights without Commander21 Aug 2006 05:23 GMT2
Is it possible to trigger the Nikon wireless remote speedlight flashes

Commander (SU-800)?  Thanks!
