Canon 1D Mark II N CR2 file viewer/sorter?23 Aug 2006 15:57 GMT19
Irfanview 3.98 is not working right to view Canon 1D Mark II N raw
(CR2) files.  I need to sort/chimp thru a few thousand shots from an
event on Sunday.  I've been using Adobe Lightroom, but it's DOG SLOW
and the UI is horrible (no indication if it has "read" a click or not,
Canon 17-85mm IS the truth?23 Aug 2006 15:48 GMT28
I've read a lot of conflicting opinions on this lens from it being not
much better than the kit, 18-55, lens to people comparing it with the
17-40 f4L.
Could someone point me in the direction of a decent test/review or
Advanced Point and shoot?23 Aug 2006 15:19 GMT15
One of my "wish list" cameras is a APS sized sensored camera with a high
quality zoom covering 28-70mm, f/3.5-5.0 to keep it compact. The interface
would be simplified with no pic modes or video, just P, Av, Tv, M, B and
full auto. Of course, it would do RAW files. Power would ...
how to set priority aperture on a canon ixus 700 or canon sd 500 ?23 Aug 2006 14:02 GMT1
To my surprise I read that it is possible to set an aperture on a canon
ixus 700 or sd 500, i thought was only automatic.
Can any of you please tell me how to set it.
Thanks

There are two ways to spell Ockham/Occam.  Britannica prefers the former.

Compact flash. International shipping23 Aug 2006 12:58 GMT6
Compact flash cards seem to be much cheaper in the USA than here in
Australia. The amount of memory I need to buy (for an extended trip) I
simply cannot afford at Australian prices.
Can anyone recommend a good cheap US (or anywhere else) based company
usb camera - how good?23 Aug 2006 09:15 GMT4
The specs claim 640 x 480 which is 300K pixels. Not a lot. And I assume
there will be other factors that significantly limit the image quality.
But, I just want to take it along on bicycle rides, and I'm wondering
if it will be OK for photos to be placed on the web or emailed.
I want these specs..10x optical, 5+ MP23 Aug 2006 07:57 GMT9
We are in the market for a new digicam, the basics of what we want are
this...10x optical zoom with at least 5 MP.
We have looked a bit at the Panasonic TZ1 but I am a bit wary of the lithium
battery and charge(holding) time.
Sony Alpha and Apple Aperture?23 Aug 2006 06:38 GMT1
Does anyone know if it's possible to import Sony Alpha DSLR-A100's RAW
(.ARW) files directly into Apple Aperture?
If not, what's the best way to import them and work with Aperture
without any quality loss?
"Transcend" compact flash23 Aug 2006 05:16 GMT6
Does anyone have any experience with this brand? It is marked as being
80x but is substantially cheaper than comparible, better known, brands.
I am thinking of purchasing a 4Gb card.
Thanks,
Cannon SD 70023 Aug 2006 03:45 GMT4
I finally got my first digital camera. I've been planning to get one
for how many years.
The pictures from the beastie are really good. Easy to use, high
quality.
lateral chromatic removal software23 Aug 2006 03:25 GMT6
The most infuriating (to me) lens aberration is lateral
chromatic. With digital cameras which send files to a
computer, removing the obvious color blur is a near trivial
operation. But I don't see any easy way to do in with any

Battery life - rechargeable or lithium?22 Aug 2006 22:52 GMT19
I've been using rechargeable batteries in my Canon A95, and a set of 4
x AAs seems to last a week or more. I'm wondering, though, whether
lithium batteries would be likely to last as long, as they're
considerably lighter. Is there a right/wrong answer?
