2200 printing tip24 Aug 2006 10:51 GMT9
I'm new to printing with an Epson 2200. Have been at it a couple of
days. I like rich saturation and full contrast. If I use Photo Enhance
with Vivid and Sharp, the look is generally what I want. However, the
print window doesn't allow for color adjustment without switching out

Newbie needs tips on taking good nightshots24 Aug 2006 08:04 GMT7
I have a basic 3 mp digicam (SD200 or IXUS 30).  When I take pictures
of the skyline at night, it's blurry and sometimes it has fuzzy dots.
After reading the manual, I understand I have 3 choices in fixing my
problem.  Turn on the 'long shutter' option, but the manual states that

Newer Canon 70-300mm IS really better?24 Aug 2006 01:16 GMT1
I've used several 70 or 75 to 300mm zooms in the past from Canon, Sigma and
Nikon. While the Sigma (APO macro) and older Nikon model were marginally
better than the Canons, I grouped these 7x-300mm lenses as consumer quality
and have ignored them for several years.
British Summertime24 Aug 2006 00:36 GMT8
I've just uploaded a gallery of pictures taken this week in West
Wales, United Kingdom. They're nothing special as pictures go -
coastal scenery and family snaps. But what many of you may find
interesting is the fact that the sun is *shining* :-)

Just got this from the mailing list, if anyone is interested. 75% off. I
just got a bag at B&H a few weeks ago so I have no reason to buy more.

gimp on linux23 Aug 2006 23:39 GMT15
Hello all, I find that certain important features of gimp don't work on
linux e.g. unsharp mask. It woks well on windows XP. Has anyone else
experienced this? Any      comments gratefully received.

Nikon Coolpix Self-timer23 Aug 2006 20:39 GMT4
Hey, everyone.
Is it possible to change the self-timer to a longer interval? The
default seems to be 10 seconds after pushing the button, which isn't
enough for a project I'm working on.
Nikon D-70 display/power problem23 Aug 2006 18:31 GMT3
Hi. I've suddenly got a problem with my D-70. I hadn't used it for a while, and
hadn't removed the battery. Now I've fully re-charged both batteries, and have
the same multi-part problem with either one in place.
When I insert the charged battery, and then insert a memory card, the ...
Looking for free photo printing/layout app23 Aug 2006 17:09 GMT3
Is there a free program that allows you print your photo at any size
you want like 2x2, 1x4, etc. and not just 4x6, 5x7, or 8x10? If not
free how about a cheap one that does this. The perfect program would
let me pick some pictures, crop them, pick the size to be printed, and
resample to get exact ppi?23 Aug 2006 16:51 GMT3
I was reading Weldon's web site. For 11x14 prints they recommend
either 240 ppi or 360 ppi.
I've read different things in different places about the necessity of
resampling to match an "even" printer-based value for ppi. But I never
