Any GIMP users (Linux)09 Jul 2006 00:09 GMT93
i am muther-f'ing sick of windows, bill gates, and redmond, wa. as well. i
want to migrate over to linux, but need to know if the gimp is even close to
PS CS2 in quality. my main concern is being able to use layers via PS, and
curves. I don't use too many filters, and the soft ...
Selling my FZ-30, and thinking about a Rebel XT. Thoughts?08 Jul 2006 23:50 GMT9
Well, I enjoyed my stint with the DMC-FZ30, but haven't used it very
much, all told. Mainly because I've been using the dSLRs that my
employer provides a LOT more.
So, I've decided to sell off the Panasonic and get a dSLR of my own.  In

Why ZLR?08 Jul 2006 20:14 GMT14
I am in the market for a digital camera, to be used for close-up still
shots.  In general, does a ZLR produce better pictures than an P&S?  Are the
optics better in a ZLR?  Is the sensor better?  I understand that ZLRs can
do much zooming, something I do not need,  I will use the ...
Casio EX-Z500 problem with USB2.0 ??08 Jul 2006 19:45 GMT2
I recently bought an EX-Z500 and what a great little camera. But it will
NOT download the pictures at USB2.0. It only works very slow (about
USB1.1 rates) with the provided cradle. Everything else on the PC works
fine through USB2.0, i have tried other USB2.0 ports and still cannot
Image Sample Request08 Jul 2006 18:51 GMT2
I'm debating whether to finally go the digital route with a Nikon D70s and
sell on my Nikon f80 body.  I friend gave me quick look over his new(ish)
D70 purchase and showed me his holiday pics dumped to CD (presumably as
JPEG).  They had been captured at low resolution (don't know ...
Rock and Roll Baby08 Jul 2006 18:22 GMT2

Messing around with the SB-800 off camera, and caught the perfect face.
I was pretty plpeased with the outcome w/ the notoriously soft 24-120
Linking to other web sites08 Jul 2006 17:27 GMT1
There is so much beautiful photographic work on the internet, I am
surprised how reluctant we are to link to other sites. Are we afraid to
lose business by linking to better photographic sites? Is the
competition really that fierce? Are our own shots really that similar

Mix memory card across two cameras?08 Jul 2006 16:37 GMT5
I just bought a second digitcal camera, an SLR.  I plan to take both my
old P&S and the new camera with me when I go out.  I was wondering if
its possible to share a memory card between the two cameras?
They both take SD cards, I know I can use the card in either machine,

Resolution question08 Jul 2006 16:09 GMT18
I'm new to digital and don't know much about them. I have an Olympus
C-7070 and have been taking close-ups of plant structures like growing
points and have noticed that when I view the images at 100 % there
have been very small insects that the 7.1 MP of my camera are not
Super Zooms, Noise Reduction08 Jul 2006 10:03 GMT10
I had a Lumix FZ-20, but my daughter dropped it. I ordered an FZ-30 to
replace it. However, I've already noticed some noise issues in the FZ-30
photos. I can't imagine that the FZ-20 is better, but in looking at photos
on my monitor, the FZ-20 photos just seem better (and it may ...
