Seeking Advice on Digital SLR10 Jul 2006 22:07 GMT12
Many years ago, I used a Minolta XGM SLR camera, for which I still have
a number of lenses.  Now that Digital SLR's have come down in price, I'm
thinking of buying one.  However, I would like to continue to use the
lenses that fit the Minolta XGM.

Olympus loosing date/time when changing batteries10 Jul 2006 20:05 GMT3
My Olympus C-750 is loosing the date/time when I change batteries, even if
it the batteries are out for only 5 seconds.
I can't find instructions on replacing the battery or capacitor that is
supposed to hold that information during the no-battery time.
Trip to B&H, train, 30D and FZ7.10 Jul 2006 18:39 GMT15
Took the train down to B&H today to buy a camera--I had been on the fence
over the 30D or the D200 and figured I'd led Providence sort it out--if
they were sold out of D200s by the time I got there I'd go with a 30D.
Well, they were sold out so I left with a 30D, the 17-85, and the ...

Do all digital cameras overheat?10 Jul 2006 16:18 GMT31
Do all digital cameras overheat?  Our digital camera acts up when it
gets too hot.  That's understandable for electronics -- but since when
is 80 degrees F an inappropriate environment for a camera?
I've never heard of anybody else with this problem.  Our camera is old

Canon a540 display res?10 Jul 2006 15:13 GMT2
I have been checking out the Canon A540 as a replacement
for my wrecked A510.
The spec all looks very nice, until, on close reading,
I noticed the display.
Macro lens question.10 Jul 2006 15:02 GMT8
How would portraits on a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM compare to
portraits taken with a Canon EF 100mm f/2 USM. I want to buy a 100mm
lens, and I want really sharp images. I want to take portraits and take
pictures of little things like bugs.

Look at these piccies. The composition is not awing, but the
photoshopping turns many of them into gorgeous eye-candy. Who's a
wizard here? Care to comment?

Online Picture Storage10 Jul 2006 03:23 GMT9
Question - do people ever store their pictures on online sites instead
of burning them to disk?  I know I should back up all my important material
and photos after I load them on my computer in case of a hard drive failure.
I've always been put off by paying money to sites ...
