Leica C-Lux 2 - any first observations? Any other recommendation?27 Jun 2006 05:07 GMT2
I'm in the market for a simple camera with really good picture quality
to complement my other equipment. Im no Leica fan at all but was a
little interested in the C-Lux 2 because it has 28 mm, appears very
well built and also fits my budget. Now Im wondering if i should put

Digital Camera Crops and 0.7x Teleconverters27 Jun 2006 04:52 GMT5
Just had an idea. Why hasn't anyone come up with
a teleconverter which reduces a full frame image
down to a 1.5 or 1.6 crop. Sort of like what those
older Nikon DSLRs did in the body.
problem reading disk - Sony Mavica 27 Jun 2006 04:32 GMT12
I've got a Sony Mavica CD-300.  The kind of camera that uses those mini CDs.
I've run into a problem with a Memorex CD-R disk.  Only half the photos on it
are readable.  I've tried different drives.  I've tried different directly from
the camera through a USB connection.  But only ...
Canon 24-105 on 5D27 Jun 2006 04:07 GMT16
I am surprised by the amount of people that seem to opt for the 24-105 f/4
as opposed to the 24-70 f/2.8 on the 5D.
I know that the 24-105 has a longer reach and IS, but I would have thought
the 24-70 would have been more popular as a general lens due to the 2.8
HDR images in PS CS227 Jun 2006 03:03 GMT8
I have been reading about the HDR (High Dynamic Range) capabilities of
Photoshop CS2.  Apparently this allows a photographer to capture a
scene with such detail that an encyclopedic like file from which any
number of high resolution images can be pulled out and used.  This

Problems installing Dimage Elite 5400 II26 Jun 2006 23:37 GMT3
Having read good reviews for the Konica Minolta Dimage Scan Elite 5400
II, but of course finding they are no longer manufactured, I purchased
a nearly new one on Ebay from a seller in Germany.
I'm using Windows XP Professional, and have just installed it.

Kodak Easyshare software and Drive Image26 Jun 2006 21:30 GMT1
I have Powerquest Drive Image 7 installed and heard that I would be unable
to use Kodak Easyshare software because of it.  Is this true?  Can anyone
tell me anymore about the problem?  Cheers.
image stabilisation ~ how does it work?26 Jun 2006 19:52 GMT56
I keep reading about image stabilisation, and now see that you can get
binoculars with image stabilisation; this puzzles me a bit. As far as I can
gather, with long zoom, you get less light and therefore longer shutter
speed is required ~ the shakes. I had always assumed that "image

XD cards: difference between size and speed26 Jun 2006 19:04 GMT3
I am using an Olympus 710 camera and will be buying an XD memory card.  What
effect does the size of memory have on speed?
The price difference between 256M and 1GB of memory is not significant when
one considers the life of the memory card and I cannot think of a reason why
Lens 411 for DSLRs26 Jun 2006 18:45 GMT9
i'm debating taking the plunge ( i can't believe it), but i am curious of
one thing. i have some old pentax k and m42 mount glass that are fabulous. i
read that the pentax DSLR offerings leave a little to be desired.
are there any other makers that support the k mount, or the ...
