Canon S3 IS double duty04 Jun 2006 17:53 GMT5
I am an admitted amateur ready to step up from a 2mp Olympus D-520 to
something with a good bit (okay a lot) more capability. I am
coincidentally also in need of a video camera as the old JVC SVHS
camcorder has recently bit the dust. I've been reading up on the Canon

Scan film at home or do it at the lab...Minolta 5400/Nikon V vs. Frontier, etc.???04 Jun 2006 11:19 GMT3
It seems film scanners have really made a big jump in quality in recent
years, with some arguing that the Minolta 5400II is approaching the
limits of what we will see as for quality of scanning at home is
concerned.  In other words, with the digital world pushing film
Digital images viewed on the net compared to what you can expect to see when they are printed04 Jun 2006 10:09 GMT5
First the digital stuff:
I was wondering if the images that come from the digital source, posted
on the web, are the way they will look when they are printed?  In other
words, are the photos seen posted on Pbase and other various photo
Retail Camera Stores, Why They Are In Trouble04 Jun 2006 06:56 GMT30
Today I went to Keeble & Shuchat, a large camera store in Palo Alto, CA,
which is having their annual sale. I wanted to buy a Canon 70-300 IS
lens. It would still be a little more expensive than B&H, but I could
get it right away, and help out a local retailer.

what is best low light Point & Shoot Digital?04 Jun 2006 04:29 GMT3
I have a Canon A620 but it seems when the light gets a little dim I get a
blurry pix unless I use a flash.  With my Canon 10D DSLR I can utilize a
fast f1.4 lens and get around this problem.  What is best PNS camera for low
light conditions?  Also, I don't want a lot of noise in ...
kodak dc 4800 and vivitar 285HV external flash used equipment  -- worth?04 Jun 2006 03:09 GMT4
Any idea what these are worth used as separate items?  Is the vivitar
flash still in any demand?
The camera has some extra accessories but I don't think that will add
much to its value.  The vivitar has an L bracket w/ handle (don't know

I have one of these cameras without the Camera (type B? USB ?) to PC (type A
male USB) cable. the mini connector marked AV at the side of the camera

standard  mini USB connector pinout lead ?
Question for flash memory gurus.03 Jun 2006 21:41 GMT10
I have a Panasonic FZ5 and 2 2GB SD cards for it.
One card is a pq1 2GB, the other is Sandisk Ultra II 2GB.
The actual amount of memory on the two cards is different. The Sandisk causes
the camera to report 804 shots available, and the pq1 says 703.

Olympus D560 not recognizing cards03 Jun 2006 16:23 GMT1
We have an Olympus D560, which had been working without problem up
until 3 days ago.  After taking a few pictures, the camera refused to
take anymore pictures.  After turning it off and on, it just puts up a
screen to either turn it off or format the card.   Since the pictures
