Availablity of Nikon 18-200mm DX lens in USA?20 Jun 2006 03:18 GMT9
All of the reputable mail order stores are out of stock.  Anyone know when
these are expected in?  I have a need for a lens in that range by July 6th.
I'd rather not pay a $250 premium to buy one gray market on Ebay if I can
get one in time from a reputable mail order store.

Memore card speed20 Jun 2006 01:38 GMT2
I've heard you should use fast memory cards on digital cameras for best
performance.  How can you tell what the card speed is?  Is there a utility
to measure speed?  I have never seen speed advertised on any memory cards.
SB-800 in aperture priority - constant 1/60s20 Jun 2006 00:46 GMT3
I just noticed when shooting in iTTL/BL that the shutter speed of the
camera remains a constant 1/60s even when the aperture is adjusted in
aperture priority.  This is not the case in shutter priority, though.
I don't have the manual handy; is this standard, and can it be

CCD cleaning?20 Jun 2006 00:20 GMT26
No idea what this means, but I'm getting a small dark spot on all of my
digital photos.  I've been told the CCD has to be cleaned - I have an
extended warranty, and otherwise was told it would be about $200 to clean
it.  Is this a big deal?
Nikon 85 mm 1.8 AF-D20 Jun 2006 00:08 GMT6
I've seen the above lens on Ebay, but apparently the diaphragm is stuck
on f16 (the min aperture) - presumably it would work OK on an autofocus
Nikon boy (a D200 for eg)?
Image organizer software suggestions?19 Jun 2006 23:49 GMT8
Sorry, I know this has been asked a zillion times before, but I can't seem
to find any of those threads right now.
I can't seem to find a image organizer that works the way I'd like.
After shooting a ton of pix, I like to quickly browse through them over and

New to digital SLR's19 Jun 2006 23:22 GMT29
I am going to revive my photography hobby, but this time go digital.  I
have some dumb questions that I know can be answered on the internet,
but still on dialup (ugh!) I don't have the time or patience to search
for info.  Feel free to refer me to any helpful websites.
File compression19 Jun 2006 22:27 GMT5
The images on my computer are normally between 2-3MB. I upload these to
an online photo print service for enlargements.
Somehow a few of my pictures got compressed to 200-700KB range. (I did
this with the computer but I am not sure what I did).
