After many years of 35mm/medium format photography I am coming to digital
with very little knowledge.  I am looking for a subcompact, with a decent
lens, smallness/portability a major factor, 5MP or greater, an optical
viewfinder, and at least some form of manual or override ...

I shot a concert with a reasonably tight composition of the pianist.
She was moving her body back and forth during the play.  The video was
captured in mini-dv tapes and transferred to my pc in avi format.  When
I viewed the avi files, the pianist's face was clear without any motion

Interesting. Did not know this. It seems that if you are carrying
photographic equipment, you can make it a third bag on a flight, subject

I have all SDcards and a Sony TV with a memory stick slot.

I am thinking about buying a digital camera on ebay and does anyone
have any advice for me.  I've never had a good experience buying on
ebay.  I know of people that have gotten good deals on ebay and I was
wondering what is the best method?
