Monitor Calibration Profile Does not stay25 Apr 2006 01:51 GMT3
I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 with an Nvidia 7600 GS video card and v84.21
drivers. I am using a Gretag Macbeth Eye-One Display 2 and running Eye-One
Match 3.6 calibration software.
I run a calibration and it seems to go fine, resulting in a very good
20D 1 1/3 Stops Slower Than 5d?25 Apr 2006 00:28 GMT2
I read somewhere that a EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens acts 1 1/3 stops faster
on a 5D to a 20D.  That means it's equivalent to an f2.5 lens on a 20D.
I don't understand.  Can someone please explain what this is about?
Distortion!24 Apr 2006 22:12 GMT10
Look at the horrible distortion in this picture. Sony digital. I don't know
what you can call it, but it looks like the car bends out in the middle. The
wheels aren't even square-on.
Picasa / Adobe Bridge / Adobe Photoshop Album Starter ?24 Apr 2006 19:52 GMT3
I've just started on my photo collection. Now I'm trying to figure out
the best way to organize the pics.
I like Picasa, but I'm worried about the Labels feature not carrying
over when I make a backup or transfer the photos in another computer.
Whats the diff between Canon Digital Rebel XT SLR 8.0 MP cameras?24 Apr 2006 19:30 GMT12
I am from canada and will probably be buying a digital slr in the near
future.  FutureShop's website shows 3 different Canon Digital Rebel XT
Digital SLR cameras, but I cannot see what is different about them
other than the price.
newbie RAW question for XP or FC124 Apr 2006 19:26 GMT1
This is a duplicate post, but its a bit longer at the end
I have Fedora Core 1 ( FC1 ) at present and want to use the UFRAW
plugin to load and process canon raw files from my powershot S70
instead of using the software that came with the camera.
Raw format for high-resolution greyscale24 Apr 2006 19:13 GMT5
As I understand it a Raw image has brightness values for each of the
sensor elements on the CCD and these sensors are arranged in a grid
pattern so that a group of 4 make up one colour pixel.
Would it therefore be possible to process a Raw image file to make a
Need freeware: right-click to batch resize & zip pics24 Apr 2006 19:08 GMT5
Please recommend freeware (Windows XP) that will help me perform this
action:
Directly from a Window's folder, right-click on a group of digital
pictures and have a command that will batch resize the images (to 50%

Did you all ever figure out what the deal is with B&H and the fact that
they close for religious holidays just like other merchants do?

What is "IS"24 Apr 2006 16:16 GMT11
I see this abbrevation used a lot in groups concerned with digital cameras
and zoom lenses.
What does "I. S." mean?

Waterproof paper for map printing24 Apr 2006 10:13 GMT37
I want to get some waterproof paper for my ink jet printer so I can print
walking maps and not have all the colours run if the weather takes a turn
for the worse.  I'm not too worried about the paper being very heavy weight.
I'd like to be able to fold it easily and a rarely use ...
