Sorry for this maybe trivial question from new-in-printing buisnnes
but:
why do we need wide, large format printers able to print 1200/2400 or
greater dpi if we usually cannot deliver files with such quality?

I decided to digitalize my stock of slides. Can you give me some references
of the best avaible scanners (i can't afford far beyond 500 $ anyway).

Sp Eizo just told me on the phone that my new Flexscan L568 cannot be
