My brother was asking if these things are any good, looking at getting one for his XT... frankly, I've never seen one before... please, no stupid elitist comments, obviously it's not up to a good proper wide-angle, just looking for opinions from anyone who's actually used one.

| Assessing quality images on a laptop screen | 06 Mar 2006 14:11 GMT | 12 |
I drive a Canon 20d and regularly try to assess raw and jpegs on my 15 inch Acer laptop screen. This happens to have quite a shiny screen but despite taking reasonable precautions against reflection etc I am never sure when I am seeing the 'correct' image. I try to ensure 90 ...

| What's the slope of the increase in noise as ISO goes up? | 06 Mar 2006 13:04 GMT | 10 |
A long while ago, I was wondering how _noise_ increases with ISO, and how this relates to sensor (pixel) size. I think I've finally figured it out. (It's pretty simple, and probably somewhere on Roger C's site if I had just bothered to read...)

With 3 digital cameras I'm not looking for another for myself, but I browse through eBay offers looking for one for a friend who's a newbie. If PCs depreciate by half each year, as I once read, how fast do digital cameras depreciate? Is there a rule-of-thumb formula? I'm ...

| Too many DSLRs? | 06 Mar 2006 04:56 GMT | 38 |
Now that dSLRs are a hot commodity, many previously non SLR makers are joining the game. Good is that it will keep the players advancing with newer features and models at lower prices. Bad is that it can eventually saturate the market, producing no profits or losses for some ...

| Canon 5D and old flashguns | 05 Mar 2006 20:50 GMT | 21 |
I have a 25 year old but still very good Braun 370BVC flashgun, I want to know if I can use it with the Canon 5D? I notice that the Canon has a flash sync connector. Is it safe to use this with the Braun? Obviously it cannot be used in other than manual mode, no TTL exposure.
