High quality inkjet printer selection.08 Mar 2006 13:25 GMT21
I'm looking at replacing my aging Epson 890 with something that might
give a noticeable elevation in output quality.  I'm using a Canon 5D,
with L-series lenses, so the input material should be up to it.
Firstly there is the question of A3 or A4: I would *like* the capacity
Should GAMMA need to be adjusted?08 Mar 2006 11:09 GMT2
Hi.. I'm a little bit confused about the GAMMA setting I see in most of
the photo editing programs available.  If you go into the options of an
editor or viewer, such as IRFANVIEW and you make an adjustment to the
GAMMA setting does that do something "accross the board" to the
external ttl flash for compact???08 Mar 2006 09:50 GMT4
Do any canon compact cameras send a e-ttl signal to an ex speedlight?
Wouldn't that be cool? Does Nikon have something like this? Is there a
small camera with a hotshoe that could run a ttl controller like
canon's infrared do-hicky?
Formatting the memory card08 Mar 2006 09:41 GMT152
I have the digital Rebel with the CF card.  After taking a number of shots,
I place the card in a card reader and download to the computer.  I place the
card back in the camera, and format the card.  I wonder:  since I never fill
up the card, and always format in the camera, is ...
neg scanning08 Mar 2006 09:33 GMT7
Hoping that someone here can give me an idea of which course of action to
take regards scanning all my old negs.  I have  a lot of negs that each came
with a Jessops cd containing scans of each image at about 800kb.  I can also
borrow a friends scanner and scan those same negs so ...
Converting RAW to TIFF Question08 Mar 2006 09:31 GMT5
Why is it that when you convert a RAW image to a TIFF the image size
dramatically increases?
Where does the extra info/file size come from, because obviously the RAW
image is the original?
Cell Phone Cameras with USB that don't require web access08 Mar 2006 09:07 GMT14
It would be convenient to have a cell phone that included a camera for
various reasons.
However, SPRINT says you need to have Web access with them. I have no
desire to read email on my phone, and certainly not to pay an extra $15
Sensor resolution, any sites with actual measurements?08 Mar 2006 07:39 GMT21
I'm not talking about sites like dpreview.com that might be testing
sensors with less
than perfect lenses that happen to be used with some cameras.  What I
mean are sites that have done tests with lenses that resolve (clearly)
bogen 3021 tripod strap08 Mar 2006 04:26 GMT6
Does anyone here use a strap to help carry a Bogen 3021 tripod?  If so, can
you reccommend one?

SLIGHTLY OT: Professional photographers' websites08 Mar 2006 03:18 GMT5
Wow! I have just spent an hour trying to find a professional photographer to
do a pretty straightforward studio shot of my parents with my wife and I for
a wedding anniversary present. The standard of the websites I have been
looking at is bad, bad, bad. Poorly laid out, heavy on ...

Will Bicycling Damage a Digital Camera?07 Mar 2006 23:58 GMT39
I'm an avid road bicyclist and would like to bring my new digital
camera along on my rides. All my riding is on paved roads, but with
tires pumped to 100 psi there can be a fair amount of shock and
vibration when going over bumps or rough spots. If the camera is kept
how to adjust white-balance in Gimp/PhS07 Mar 2006 23:45 GMT8
How do you duplicate the white-balance controls of digital cameras in
software? The WB feature of my Sony DSC W1 has settings for "Sun" and
"Snow", but for the most part I have been just taking pictures with WB
set on auto. However, I notice that some pictures taken on very clear,
polarity of ACK800 ac adapter for canon A52007 Mar 2006 23:29 GMT3
Can anyone tell me the polarity of the camera jack on the ACK800 ac
power kit.  Is the center terminal  positive or negative? I want to
build my own supply.
$60cnd is just too much for a wall-wart. ;-)
