I've just posted an article on DIMi that looks at how digital infrared
photography works and what is happening with the diffeerent color
channels during IR photography, following some discussions with people
at Kodak. <http://www.dimagemaker.com/article.php?articleID=466>
Newbie Question about Printing, Color Spaces, Photoshop09 Mar 2006 09:30 GMT13
Let me start by asking: If this topic is not pertinent for this
newsgroup - please advise and I will post elsewhere: suggestions as to
where to post would be appreciated.  Also, my description below will be
quite long, but hopefully will provide enough information for someone to ...
Canon 350D + EF 28-105 lens = actually 45-160?09 Mar 2006 09:09 GMT60
I have a Canon 350D with the standard bundled kit lens. I may get
another lens, like the Canon EF 28-105 F3.5-4.5 II USM. But I ran
across some confusing comments. I know that digital cameras have a
different size (smaller?) image sensor (than 35mm film) and that if you
WHITE BALANCE WITH PHOTOSHOP?????????09 Mar 2006 07:54 GMT15
I need help with using PS to get the best results. I've spent a lot of
time and effort taking tons of photos, problem is, like a dummy, I put
a red bulb in the desk top lamp. Thus the results! Add this to
incandescant lighting and oh lord!  Would someone please offer a good
canon 580 on a bracket????09 Mar 2006 07:13 GMT6
I shoot weddings and am about to purchase a 5D and some flashes. I
always shoot with a bracket to switch between a vertical and
horizontal, without weird shadows.
Do I gain anything from buying canon 580's instead of 550's? It is my
My First Hockey Shoot - 'Report'09 Mar 2006 03:36 GMT31
This post is a follow -up to my posted request of last Thursday for
advice on photographing hockey.  Several people in that thread
asked me to provide feedback about my experience, so I'll go into a
bit of depth.
APS Film to Digital- Help please08 Mar 2006 20:27 GMT5
Hi everyone: I, like many others, have been trying to archive our old
photos to digital. I have a scanner with a TPA that is doing a pretty
good job of scanning our 35mm negatives. It's taking me forever, but a
good investment in time. Anyways, we have about 40 to 50 rolls of APS
When Electronic shutter "open"/"close"?08 Mar 2006 19:08 GMT11
Strong light makes some people wink or blink. What I don't understand is how
the camera can capture this reaction considering it still takes a moment for
the motor nerves to respond to the stimuli. Nerve messages only travel about
35 miles an hour. One would think that by the ...
What is "low" in  "in Camera" settings?08 Mar 2006 18:49 GMT4
Let's say you have a choice between low, standard, and high in your "in
camera" settings for things like noise reduction, contrast, etc.
Does the "low" setting actively change the image, or is it a lack of
processing, leaving the image closer to what was seen by the sensor?
Why does Higher Resolution CD cost so much?08 Mar 2006 17:27 GMT14
When I have my colour slides processed
I also get a scanned CD. They offer three
different resolutions each progressively higher
I'm sure you know what the resolutions are.
I just found this about nikon flashes...08 Mar 2006 17:12 GMT2
film TTL .. vs .. D-TTL and i-TTL
- the big difference between these versions
With TTL in film cameras, the flash output is measured off the film
plane during the actual moment of exposure. But due to the difference
How to remove xD Picture Card from 6-card holder?08 Mar 2006 15:16 GMT3
I just purchased a new XD picture card for the first time. It is an Olympus
brand. The card comes with a storage holder that can hold up to 6 picture
cards.
The card can easily be inserted into the holder. The question is, how to
I've Seen the Future08 Mar 2006 14:11 GMT60
I don't carry a camera as a matter of course.
It's one more thing to fill a pocket and weigh me down.
In fact, I don't know of any people who "camera up"
when they dress in the morning.
