Camera recommendations for school?13 Mar 2006 19:15 GMT20
Our village school (ages 4 to 11) has had good use from a couple of Sony
Mavica cameras - big and clunky but with the great advantage that they
used floppy disks, so each child could take their photo, remove the
disk, pass the camera to the next child and get to work on their PC
Dumb question?13 Mar 2006 18:40 GMT27
Perhaps the more technically minded could tell me (in simple terms) why
are Leica and Zeiss lenses better? I mean, the clarity is there, but
why? Better glass? Better what?

CMOS imager references?13 Mar 2006 17:38 GMT2
The CCD imager came out well before I retired six years ago, and I had
lots of references and handbooks on them. I was working when the first
bucket brigade chips came out, and when people first added photodetector
sites to them, so I feel I am reasonably well versed in how they ...

Axusdigital: calling LA residents13 Mar 2006 13:58 GMT1
In my blog ( http://heim.ifi.uio.no/~gisle/blog/?p=18 ), I've noted
that certain companies run a scam where expensive cameras and other
high-tech goods are sold using untraceable and unrecoverable methods
of payment, such as Western Union wire transfer or so-called "e-gold".

too much money. is there an advantage of getting a flashgun that
automatically adjusts it's angle depending on the focal length of your

Raw file processors comparision13 Mar 2006 11:22 GMT4
Anyone compares CaptureOne Pro to RawShooter Premium? I was at my friend's
studio trying RawShooter trial and found that it is very good and done many
things that CaptureOne Pro can do. In certain area, it is better and best of
all, very much cheaper. Any advice?
To whom can we file an abuse complaint against FreeSpeechStore?13 Mar 2006 10:36 GMT50
Can someone please post a generic abuse complaint for xo.com or aol or
whomever's TOS Dick Scoville is violating this week? I'm tired of
reading his abuse and spam on Usenet.

Lost all my resolution.13 Mar 2006 07:12 GMT15
The experts all say you have to shoot RAW and process every image in
Photoshop. Well I did that and look what happened!

SLIDESHOWS LOVE THE 20D !!13 Mar 2006 07:09 GMT23
OK, sports fans, it's like this.  I've read a few references on this
forum to various slideshow software so I finally decided to try one out
for myself.  The consensus is that Photodex ProShow Gold is the best so
that's the one I used.  Besides, I knew that PW uses it so if he can
Why E-330 might be a revelation13 Mar 2006 04:20 GMT23
I know that traditional SLR users have been loath to accept new
technology.  Manual gave way to auto modes, then AF, etc, now we
have digital.  Olympus's E-330 with its live LCD view could open up
