Aperture and shutter speed in Digital cameras + general discussion31 Mar 2006 03:08 GMT7
In a conventional camera an iris controls the aperture and a mechanical
shutter is altered to control the shutter speed - is this the same in a
digital camera? I have not 'seen' anything that looks like an iris and
presumably shutter speed is controlled by how long the CCD is ...

Canon Powershot S80 lens rattle31 Mar 2006 02:14 GMT1
I recently got my new Canon Powershot S80 and I really love the camera. This
is my first digital camera(!), I have only used conventional ones before -
when I was an avid amateur and later on when I just wanted to remember
places and events.

Suggestions on hardware/software for keeping reliable backups?30 Mar 2006 18:25 GMT5

reliable, not-horribly-expensive backup method?
Thanks,

newb - tell me about ISO30 Mar 2006 17:43 GMT8
I have a Canon SD550 which lets me adjust the ISO when using the manual
settings.  I understand that a higher ISO leads to more detail in the
photo but can also lead to more 'noise' in the image.
Under what conditions would i set this higher or lower?  Are there any
compact flash deals?30 Mar 2006 15:01 GMT28
I'm looking to buy some larger CF cards.  Does anyone here know of any
particularly good deals on 4GB CF cards, online or in retail stores?

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- More than 1,500 Venezuelans shed their
clothes on a main city avenue Sunday to pose for American photographer
Spencer Tunick, forming a human mosaic in front of a national symbol:
a statue of independence hero Simon Bolivar.
photo parameters in image files30 Mar 2006 11:28 GMT3
Is the a program that allows me to see the internal parameters placed
by digital cameras onto a image?
Is this a standard specification? Where is this detailed?
Thanks,
