Three ways to do macros with a DSLR21 Mar 2006 00:40 GMT17
1.  A dedicated macro lens.
2.  An add-on (screw on) positive lens for the main lens.
3.  A reversing ring to use with normal lenses.
I figure a dedicate macro lens is the best, but has anyone compared
CF card-reader oddity21 Mar 2006 00:10 GMT3
I was using a Lexar 40x 1G card.  When I put it in the card reader,
the image program options on my computer would pop-up, asking which
program I wanted to use to view with.
I'm using an 80x Sandisk now and this does not happen.  I wonder why?
Calibration with no brightness and contrast adjustment20 Mar 2006 22:58 GMT5
I have a friend trying to use the ColorVision Spyder to calibrate a
Dell monitor. When she chooses 6500K sRGB in the monitor's menu the
brightness and contrast buttons on the monitor no longer operate.
There is no other 6500K choice. Should she just ignore the ColorPlus

Its been a few years (going on 5) since my last digital camera purchase
(Olympus, a 3.2MP, think C3050 model or close to it) & I'm a bit more
experienced now (not pro, but very decent & nearing higher level amature).
I'd like to know a few people's oppinions on these cameras or ...

Canon S80, aperture after zooming back etc.20 Mar 2006 19:27 GMT3
I own a Canon S50. We need another camera and I am thinking about buying
another Canon, since I like the fact that photo quality is good and
expecially that colors are very natural.
However the software of S50 was VERY annoying in some circumstances. I
D200 banding per RAW viewer20 Mar 2006 19:21 GMT13
At Ed Ruf's suggestion, I looked more closely into the banding seen on
some of my recent D200 photos.
I chose one rather lousy (unfocused) photo that displayed banding, and
viewed it at 300% in the Nikon Capture Viewer. I then did a straight
siegelite flash bracket in carry-on luggage at airport?20 Mar 2006 19:19 GMT8
Going on a one week trip to Maui in 6 days, and will take my Nikon D50
and one SB800 flash.  I am taking only a carry-on suitcase and just got
to wondering if the siegelite flash bracket would igve me any grief
going through security?  If the camera and flash were on it, it would

Scanning 110 slides20 Mar 2006 17:54 GMT11
I've got mounted 110 format (pocket instamatic) slides of some things
from the 1970s that I'm now interested in scanning.  I've got a decent
flatbed (Microtek ScanMaker 4), but the resolution isn't very high for
such small originals.  And I've got a perfectly good Nikon 5000 ED.
Your thoughts on these photos please20 Mar 2006 17:49 GMT3
Two photo's of completely different types. I'd love to hear what you think
about both.
First photo. My daughter rows competitively at the high school level so I
spend a lot of time at the local boat house taking photos of the team and
