Does performance increase using a 4mp (or 5mp or 6 mp) camera at the 3mp setting?07 Feb 2006 19:06 GMT6
I am curious if anyone has ever studied using their high MP camera at the
3mp setting.  What I want to know is,
1) Do response times increase? (because of less data to deal with)
2) Does 400 ISO noise decrease? (from effectively larger sensor size per
LCD for SLR07 Feb 2006 18:44 GMT62
Maybe it stupid question, but I do not have SLR: does it right that SLR
cameras use LCD only for checking resulting photo after shooting and
LCD screed can not be used for focusing/framing the subject?

last step before saving is sharpening. I'm thinking that since my dye-sub
printer only prints in 8 Bits, that I might as well ...

Are any PnS Digitals like the old Leica RangeFinders?07 Feb 2006 08:29 GMT31
I am aware of the Leica Digilux 2 and the Panasonic DMC-LC1, but when you
look through the viewfinder you are actually looking at a little television
screen.  Are there any really high quality single lens digitals out there
that I consider as a digital form of the old Leica ...
Is 3, 3.1 megapixels enough?07 Feb 2006 08:27 GMT18
I don't really need to do much photography, and I've not got much spare
money.  I've seen a couple of digital cameras for £40-60.  They're 3
and 3.1 megapixels.  Is this adequate or more than adequate?  It would
be better than a disposable non-digital camera wouldn't it?  One is a
Vertical white stripes on print07 Feb 2006 06:29 GMT5
Pixma iP4000, near new. Thin vertical stripes across the width of the
picture, about a centimeter apart, mostly in dark areas. Tried cleaning
nozzles a couple of times. Test print looks fine.
Any suggestions? I posted a few weeks ago that this printer sucks and

"perfect" cut outs?07 Feb 2006 02:55 GMT8
In films it is now routine to shoot against
blue (or green) backgrounds, and get absolutely perfect
cut-out masks, such that the cut
out character can be merged into a new background
